Hey all! I just wanted to know how you calculated your downtime costs?
I'm being offered a windshield with half breakage rates due to a new glass composition and I was wondering how much actual money it would save me to have a windshield break less.
So if any of you have any information on windshield breakage rate (how many times a year or so it breaks), how much time it takes to replace a windshield (down-time) and what the cost of a new windshield is, either insurance deductible or new windshield price, I'd appreciate it TONS!
Thanks!

Last time I got a new windshield was about 3 yrs ago. Why are you going through windshields so fast?

what you have to ask is, "how long are those half rates good for. One glass, 2, 3, forever?
there can be a limit to how many they will offer you at half price.Trucker61016 and SingingWolf Thank this. -
I had them do it while I waited, it took them about 5 minutes to pop the old out and the new in. I've had one replaced in 2 years. I would assume it depends upon what you're doing. If you hauling in and out of construction sites you're likely going to lose more windshields than OTR.

It takes 15 min to replace a windshield and $150-200. There is no downtime really...

I would go for it then I get one replacement each year, either one side or the other. -
Thanks all for your responses!!
So what would you think the benefits of having a windshield that is much more resistant to cracks would be???
