If you’re getting a ton of detention you just log sleeper at the shipper or consignee and run like hell with a fresh clock. Gotta take care of business and sleep like you’ve got a newborn(whenever you can, for however long that you can) hauling that crap. I don’t think I could do that tbh. I hated it even on a dedicated account.
Drive for 8, 9 or 10 hours?

No it doesn't if you're at the right carrier. I've done back to back 3,500+ mile weeks in a 65 mph truck. It's quite common actually.

Your situation is not my situation.

I agree. But you made it sound like no solo driver running reefer freight can hope for "high miles" and I just wanted others to know that's not the case. Carriers are different and have different freight models and different niches and different customer base and different expectations from drivers.
But granted. This will typically come at the expense of 3-4+ week tour expectations from the carrier's upper management and dispatch personnel, which most drivers don't want any part of.Last edited: Apr 23, 2018

Depends on what is needed to get the load handled. I deliver early alot, most receivers don't have a problem, I call the day before, (the receiver not dispatch). Then I drive what is needed up to legal to make it happen. You dont make money in a truck stop.truadvocate Thanks this.
