(1) All time at a plant, terminal, facility, or other property of a motor carrier or shipper, or on any public property, waiting to be dispatched, unless the driver has been relieved from duty by the motor carrier;
accord . to that above, if they relieve you of duty, then yes, you can log off duty.....

Ah another one of those lovely grey area's you couldn't get 5 different leo's to agree on with their jobs on the line--LOL
So my question here would be--while I understand the no responsibilty while on an airplane--IF--the company pays for your rental car--and YOU drive it to your next commercial assignment--wouldn't/couldn't the time spent driving the rental be considered "on duty" and even possibly line 3? Although technically not in a commercial vehicle per se? My first thought was to consider it like driving to or from work--but--in this case you are not leaving from or returning to a place of work from your home--OK Discuss--LOLGiggles the Original Thanks this. -

thats the thing...the regs dont specifically address this ( or i missed it)......but if you log on duty ....then when do you rest before driving the truck again....however, dont wanna be logging off duty, if you arent sup to....
