OK , A driver was trying to back up to a good size loading dock ,couldn't back up after 7 tries 2 drivers helped him back into the loading dock.
Then the Plant worker came out and told him he had to sweep and clean his trailer out,he pulls forward and gets to the HUGE dumpster and RIPS a door off, completely! he gets out and was looking around. Now he is trying to get the door into the back of the trailer ! Good God ,I can't believe That his company let him out on the road. They must not have high standards...no one can be THAT desperate for drivers.jmho

Well; he didn't try to duct tape it back on so it wasn't swifty...
-
lol....once at the dock door he should have swept trailor out right there and used a broom and dust pan to pick up the trash...I and many a driver have had to sweep out before loading and I have never ever seen one pull out of the dock and backup to dumpster to do so...I bet his company gets govt money for training and hiring him...keeping a safer more expirenced driver out of work.
Wiseguywireless Thanks this. -
This is why "cone" training isn't sufficient. It's not real world at all.

I saw a pam driver the other day try to pull into a spot at the Pilot, couldn't even pull through right. Granted it wasn't meant to pull th rough but there WAS plenty of room to complete it. Then she sat there with only the tractor in the spot for 15 minutes just sitting there before someone went over to help and she backed out, made the driver next to her move back, so she could pull in.
Mind you this was an easy backing situation. It was the Pilot in Jackson, the newer one with the Dennys. I have video. -
post the video i would like to see it

LOL gotta love this century. Everything has to have a video.

I've been driving for almost a year and I still don't like turning and backing into parking rows. It just seems awkward especially if the tandems are forward and you have all that trailer overhang behind the tires and you can't see how close it is to the truck on the blind side.
I will say though that I've gotten out a looked when in doubt and I haven't hit anyone. I don't care if I look like a noob I don't want to jeopardize my job by hitting anyone.
I've no problem with straight back or pull through if there is enough room. -
Getting out and looking does NOT mean that you look like a newbe, It just means your smart. I don't care how many times I have to get out and look, It is much better than a insurance claim

I'm glad you said that. I can foresee that if I have any problems, it is probably because I didn't want to look bad and don't want to hold up traffic.
In school the part I really hated most was, the instructor would take us to a hard right turn, have us start turning, then tell us when to cut the wheel only to now be facing head on with a car in the turning lane. He would do this on purpose so we had to point to the driver and make them back up. He said this was real-world and we would have to do this. I don't like it at all and would probably sit in the right hand lane for another cycle until there was no one there, or far enough away to stop instead of backing up.
We got the finger once too. Car drivers naturally assume you just screwed up and are relying on them to fix your problem at that point.
