As far as the APU, that will be a toss up. Trucks don't come with CB's. Inverters are not usually standard either. As far as Indy orientation, don't know.

MOST short noses in Werner's fleet have APUS only a small few long noses do (and I was told they are basically phasing out the long noses a month prior to my dismissal). Invertors are against company policy. Trucks are bare boned stocked in the bunk, beds, bed belts, open face cabinets, 2 or 3 cig plugs (car ones) and if no APU there will be no 120 plugs.
Honestly the truck sucks compared with the way some other companies stock em and unless you get a newer one it will only have a cass player lol -
I spoke with a Werner driver and asked him about invertors. He told me that if you supply the wiring harness and it is installed by a tech at a Werner terminal, it was ok to use invertors.

Most of the new trucks are coming with apus but starting out you might not get one.
CB is not standard.
Inverters are not allowed.............. but I have one for my laptop and use it all the time. (its only 200 watts tho) I just put it in my bag when i go to a terminal so I don't get caught. They don't check inside the cab anyway at the safety lanes so its not to hard to use one and not get caught. -
If I'm not mistaken 12 volt plug in inverters are OK to use... The kind you plug into the cig lighter. I use one for my laptop and cell phone charger (200 watts also) if this is what you are referring to. From what I'm told inverters that you wire or clamp onto the battery are the ones not allowed. I believe I heard in orientation that they are not allowed anymore even if you wanted to supply your own and have a mechanic install it. I do know of several drivers that have them (wired to battery kind) installed and do like you mentioned and just unhook them when going into a terminal.
Even though I'm pretty handy with 12 volt electronics hook ups and I could wire it safely I'm not gonna chance it in this economy fooling around with a wired in inverter. Just not worth getting fired over to me on the off chance I got caught. -
If you happen to get a truck with an APU a 1600 watt power inverter comes with it. Have one now...love it

this is true. inverters are strictly against policy. just stash it in the bunk somewhere before you hit the terminal. the safely lane guys are supposed to check the cab for pets (as a passing glance, not get all up in the truck and look around.) if maintenance sees it, its as good as gone.
indy orientation is not held at the terminal, but an off-site class room. the terminal has no showers (vouchers for truck stop shower available), and the hotel is the ramada inn off of east side i465 (i forget the exit number).
getting an apu is hit or miss, but asking for a short nose improves your odds. -
If they put you in a newer (low miles) truck it may or may not have a APU. Older, no. As for inverters like stated above, strickly prohibited. Just remember if you do try and sneek one to take it out if you go into the shop. Sometimes they have to get under the bunk to reset the APU if equipped, so they will find it if you stash it there. If caught they will call safety out to make photos and reports on it.

what is the pet/rider policy?
