    Emulsified:

    Wow! Excellent response!

    All others:

I haven't read your replies yet. I will

    All:

When it's said that lease-operators are responsible for maintenance costs, does that mean stuff like brake pads, timing belts, and the like, or does it include all mechanical costs, like a tranny that just drops dead one day?

    Thanks, everybody.

    Texas Rattler:

You're talking drivers right out of school, right? If I have to endure a year of bad wages to be out of an office, have the chance to read a year of books on "tape" and keep a pet with me 24/7, I can live with that, if there's a reasonable prospect for earning a decent living a year or two down the road.

    Thoughts?

Does one have to basically be a mechanic to be an O/O or L/O? How does that work?

man i havent had anyone give me any possitive feedback on trucking unless its some recruiter and they will promise you the world . just do some reading on this site, its pretty bleak. now i guess if you dont mind never seeing your home and basicly working all the time ,forget about a wife and or family then have at it. i have always loved trucking and thought it a great profession its a shame the pay is so crappy.

    Yo, Tex:

There have been a few positive comments just in this thread alone, no?

    Everybody:

Is it the job, or is it Texas Rattler? Where does the problem lie? I'm not being sarcastic. I really want to know if the positive comments about the job, even just the positive comments in this thread alone, are only from guys who, shall we say, hit the lottery. Is Texas Rattler a glass-not-even-there guy, or is he the masses who have spoken?
