I couldn't agree with you more! This guy should never have been driving there, and he used terrible judgment. But if he had intentionally killed 4 people, I doubt that he'd get a stiffer sentence than that.

The harsh part, is this kid is taking the brunt of what's wrong with our society today. In an over regulated industry, that has declining interest in the 1st place, most of the drivers that know or knew how to handle a situation like this are gone, or "regulated" out of the industry, for what ever reason, and this is the result. It's a part of our society that most people don't want anything to do with, until something like this happens. I'd have loved to be in the courtroom to say, "you want your lumber to build your fancy mansions in the hills, THIS is all they have to get it there". I look at peoples faces, and this kid doesn't deserve to be locked away for a good portion of his life, it SHOULD be a wake up call, but there's too much emotion involved, and the real kicker, is this all could have been prevented in the interview, who probably didn't have any experience in HR anyways, ( could easily be the bosses niece who knows nothing about trucking, just working her way into healthcare, where the REAL money is)THAT'S who they should hang. Anyone with a brain, in that job, you think would ask, a Cuban immigrant, by the way, where I doubt there are any 7 mile downgrades, "how much mountain driving have you done?" NONE? Hmm, maybe not the best applicant, but no, that loaded truck sat in someones yard with nobody to drag it down the hill, this kid shystered his way into the job, and all's seemingly well. He literally didn't have the experience, and fell through the cracks, why? All comes down to money, my friends, heaven forbid the boss of that lumber outfit drag it themselves, had to be some remorse agreeing to put this kid in a truck. I really wonder, aside from the eventual insurance payout, how a company could survive that.

What really sucks is there's thousands of these guys still on the roads across the country and thousands just like him ready to take the next seat. The Feds push and subsidize this situation. They allow foreigners to work here on visas from third world countries. Nobody should be allowed to take any of our unskilled labor jobs nor our trades unless they're natural born citizens. Americans are getting screwed out of ways to support their families.

Because the rules say one can hold a CDL in the USSA on a work visa. The others rule book only applies to Americans. Stop following their double standards.

I don't think the guy intentionally set out to kill anyone, however actions have consequences. His sentence is unfair IMO only because some drunk can jump behind the wheel & kill people in Colorado & get 4-12 years. A drunk shows the same extreme indifference to human life as he did. People playing with their phone while driving & causing a fatal crash show the same extreme indifference to human life as he did. 110 years isn't excessive but it's certainly inconsistent.

After watching the videos. He got what he deserves. I only hope his company gets sued out of existence.

He did intentionally kill people though. He could have steered that truck off the road several times but failed to do so. I believe he did it on purpose. Another way to get back at evil whitey.

I think it was more of a case of better then than me. F everyone else. I am the most important person. Seems to be a mentality that is pervasive in our industry today. Whole culture actually.

Maybe, but if that were the case he would have stopped at the top instead of the bottom out of sheer self interests. Instead, he was swerving at nearby vehicles instead of trying to actually stop. He knew what he was doing and he'll live pretty good off that Go Fund Me money once he's safe and sound back in Cuba.
