Never enter a room if you don’t now how to get out.
remember running backwards isn’t the only option, but to each his own.
One thing I must say is if you are ever in a situation where you have to let go a round or two, you make sure empty it. I don’t care if they are on the strongest pain meds. 10 rounds into the chest will stop them, but a few? Not guaranteed.Boondock, PoleCrusher and buddyd157 Thank this. -

I've heard this argument many times. JMO, but I believe it's assumed an attacker with a knife already has the knife in hand, and is charging making it easy to close the distance in less than a second.
Me and a friend tested the theory ourselves, after having heard it in CCW classes and from various other sources. We used a paintball pistol and his kids toy plastic knife. If both parties start facing each other with a separation of 20-25 ft, with the knife sheathed or pocketed, and the gun holstered, and in our experiments the gun won every time. We tried several different scenarios and each time the knife wielder got stung.
The only time the knife won, was when the attacker already had the knife in hand and was moving at the beginning of the test. And that was a scenario in which the gun wielder was not allowed to move. When movement was allowed, the knife still lost.
Our conclusion was the old axiom stands true, don't bring a knife to a gun fight.Gearjammin' Penguin, BigBob410, Boondock and 2 others Thank this. -
