Your company sending you to truckstops to recruit is a good sign that they don't have a real idea of how things actually work.
    Good luck to you.

We have the the traditional recruiting routes, but they also wanted to actually attempt to get in front of drivers, to get a few minutes to at least get some literature in their hands. We/I also understand that the last thing drivers want is someone hassling them while they are stopping to fuel, shower, or eat. It’s not a commissioned role so there isn’t any “sales” pressure. Just want to get the word out and let it spread . Thanks again for the feedback.

Yep. JB Hunt used to have them. Interstate out of the PNW had a table at the TA in Okie city for years. And you can bet they were paying the truckstops to be there

I remember an incident in 97 or 98. At the Bosslemans in Big Spring, NE, you got a complimentary Thanksgiving dinner by filling out a card. Didn't know at the time it was sponsored by JB Hunt. I put my actual address on the card(stupid me) and got recruiting postcards for years after that. Must have gone on for at least 10 years. Have to say they were persistent.

It's been my experience companies with recruiting teams often are seeking to overcome deficiencies within the company. Commonly it's pay, employee treatment, or job growth/security.

Often, there is strong correlation between size of recruitment effort and size the company issues. Applies to any industry.

Armed with that; seeing a company recruiting in gas stations signals just how ####e the company really is...

Just approach a driver sitting in his truck staring thru the windshield, not on the fuel island. That's your only chance, and don't be wearing a J.B. Hunt shirt

This is why I love this forum, the honesty and straightforwardness. I’ve been subscribed to this forum for years on another account. Mainly for the email “newsletter”, but getting the information straight from drivers is the best. You guys don’t have time to waste and BS and promises are spun your way all the time. Thanks for all the responses and criticisms. I’ve updated my dental policy and I’ll be ready to get the cold shoulder brush off. I promise I won’t slide under the stalls while you’re doing your business. Thanks to the TTR staff for not pulling this down right away.

that IS something i used to see decades ago. there might be a table set up, near the dinning area, with pamphlets, logbook rulers, pens, pencils, and maybe paper coffee cups.

i used to see many of the mega carriers of the day, do this, JB Hunt, Schneider, Werner, Munson, some reefer companies, flat bed companies, etc, etc.
