GOSH! the fartherest I've ever traveled in a truck in 58 hrs was from OKC- Seal Beach CA running team. 2682 mi in 58 hr.= 46.2.mph.If you did tavel 1000 mi overnight you were averaging 100 mph, because you had to stop and fuel. The fastest I ever heard a team make that trip was 56 hrs and they only stopped in Moriarity NM, Winslow AZ Barstow, dropped and hooked in Seal Beach, and did the same coming home fueling both ways in Barstow and peeing in baggies I believe. The only trucks that out ran us we're Monfort and the Tigator and flower haulers out of FL. You must've been in a Monfort truck.

Dearest JUDI KAY, If you could work for me you'd make 70,000/yr and I pay for polish, windex, rags, Mothers wax, and a wash once a week. You'd better keep my truck spit shined for that or go to HUNT. They love crud., havent washed trailes for years. We have customers who will tll you to never bring an un-polished Large Car on their property. One is a lumber dealer in Baltimore right at 95-495 jct.

I do not know if I will go as far as making my drivers polish anything. If I am paying them extra, then maybe.

I like a waxed rig, but that's a LOT of work! I think that's why they invented Imron paint!

I hope to have a few "showcase" trucks when I get good and established. Those trucks will get waxed and detailed on a regular basis. But I will pay an out side firm for that.

I have been an o/o for alittle over 15yrs. I dont know exactly what kind of a job you have lined up for your trucks, but it better be good. Its been my expeirence, by the time you pay your driver, fuel, and maintanence your gonna be lucky to stick a few hundred dollars in your pocket at the end of the week. When I quit otr and started local hauling, fuel was at around 1.65 per gallon. Then it was taking so close to 40% of gross (at about 1.25 per mile, flatbed) just to cover fuel. I drove the truck myself so I stuck that 25% in my pocket,( when I had that left). All my loads I got through brokers,( Mainly dealt with Mercer, "A good CO. in my opinion". I guess maybe it depends on what you start out with, the first truck I had took everything I had to get it. I had to borrow 600.00 to get my first tank of fuel, I have been at it awhile now and me personally I would not even consider paying somebody to wash, wax, or shine my truck. Takes a whole 30min to wash a truck and about $15. Everything looks real good on paper friend. No matter how many times you do the figures it will always look good on paper, but it doesnt work out like you figure it will!! THE ONLY THING FOR CERTAIN IS UNCERTANTY!!!
    GOOD LUCK TO YOU FRIEND.

    Lonesome7.3 Thanks this.

I worked for on company that had coupons for truck washes at certain truck wash places across the country and we got 2 a month, then another place only had a wash bay close to the terminal where that was the only place to wash a truck,, and could wash as often as possible,, that is if you had the time,, we were pushed most of the time going and coming and didnt have time for the washbay. the first place there were a couple that would wax your truck but they charged the driver 150 dollars to 300 dollars depending on what was waxed polished and so forth,, i never had my truck waxed, only washed with the liquid wax at the end.

There is much to know about waxes and polish as well. I wouldn't let anyone put just ordinary wax on a truck (or my truck, or motorcycle) at all. Polish has it's uses, and some has a wax built in. For trucks, a "yearly" wax, used more often than a year would be the ticket.
There are also right and wrong ways to wash paint and chrome, and the wrong way can ruin it. Some highschooler dipping a brush into a dirty bucket can sandpaper the finish.
Example: A friend and I bought sidepipes for our motorcyles once. It was a deal, so we got the same pipes. Six months later mine looked like satin and his looked brand new. Turns out that I had been wiping my shiny new pipes with a rag when they got dirty and he'd wait until he could spray the dirt off with water before washing them. I sandpapered mine without knowing it, rubbing the dirt around.
