Well I've heard that there was a driver shortage since way back before I started. To me most large companies want a continuous group of new drivers coming in. That way they can keep the pay low with excuses like you don't have enough experience to make 100k p/yr.

But beyond what I think about the companies that screw ppl over because they don't know about this industry. I truly know that there is A real shortage of parking out here. Man between 1600-1900 these small parking areas fill up quick. So how will drivers get proper rest. If they don't have a safe haven to park for there 10 hr break?

Some of the smaller truck stops like pilot and loves beat your door down if your parked on the curb or wherever you can get to. Multiple rest areas have closed cause states say they can't afford to keep them open. Walmart doesn't allow parking for trucks like they use to. Because of drivers trashing there lots with pics bottles and crap bags. And alot of shippers and receivers don't allow overnight parking.

So where the hell are all these new drivers suppose to park at night. If the industry gained 150k-250k more drivers? Should the government give Buckey's 1.5 billion to build more truck stops with at least 150 parking spaces and clean bathrooms and showers? Its bad for the ppl that drive during daylight hours. But everyone can't stay up driving overnight. People tend to fall asleep at the wheel. So how can this true shortage of parking be solved?

Meh, hours of service are a bigger reason to stop and park for me than being tired really is many times.

Remember safety first, 4 wheelers can drive all day fatigued. But a CMV operator must stop after 11 hrs because he or she is considered tired by someone that never drove a CMV

I guess the high turnover, churn and burn, at low wages works during normal times. But when times hit where many people are happy to not work, that model becomes less profitable.

Now the companies that payed well always and continue to do so, and continue to raise their pay, have the best profit model. Their rates and structures are already setup to prosper. The churn and burns are now scrambling to adjust.

When the grass cutters found a walmart bag with a turd in it hanging on a tree branch that was it for us letting people park at KC , the traffic manager was a young college girl that got wind of that and the pee jugs and really raised some hell , drivers cut the own throat there , nice big quiet lot with a ton of room.

I've said it before, there's many of us out there with an active license that aren't willing to work for what they're offering. Not when we can make the same or better being home every night.

Anyone who does that needs a bamboo cane across the back of the legs. That's the only way low-IQ idiots will learn a lesson.

Based on what I’m seeing at my company the driver shortage is real. Put my resume on indeed and am flooded with interest. Many crap jobs but some good ones too.
