Bet someone was taking their break at the pumps because he didn't want to walk down the steps from the parking area.
bzinger Thanks this. -
There was some guy parked blocking the driveway near the scale as I was leaving, said to myself he was asking for trouble. Makes me wonder...
bzinger Thanks this. -
Im familiar with that truckstop. If memory serves there should be a older 76 unless they have been closed and rebuilt.
As far as the shooting, I think this is a good shoot. It worked out well. -
People are pushing buttons out here all the time. Problem is, most who are pushing buttons and being a POS don't even realize it. They think it's perfectly normal and acceptable to be the way they are and do the things they do ... then they act all surprised when they get called out on their BS behavior.
I about lost it at the Amarillo J a week or so ago. Observed one Quest truck next to me parked at the pumps with no activity for 20+ minutes, I could not go forward after done because one of the 2 drivers of that truck was still inside ... turns out much of the problem was AGAIN, understaffed at the registers and everybody wanting all sorts of special attention and having all sorts of "problems" with this or that, because when I finally got inside 15 minutes after backing out and parking, to get my cash, they were still backed up with a lot of people wanting a lot of hot food, having card authorization problems, and dealing with a few slow cashiers, but the inside help were as pleasant as could be FWIW
I made my opinion known to both of the parties I observed holding up the fuel process. I usually don't, but it's getting harder and harder to just let the crap go day in and day out. These super-long tours are getting harder to do.Rusty Trawler, austinmike, Longarm and 8 others Thank this. -
Understaffing is a chronic issue in some companies who are determined not to spend more than they are required to spend. I also suspect not too many Good Girls enter a Career serving meals and all sorts of good things to drink to truckers day and night.
I remember one in particular, went by the name Mary before Cancer killed her prior to the Frederick 76 Truckstop being sold off to Costco to be replaced by a non producing economic parasite known as Costco. She spent the last months of her life making sure myself and all other truckers who went into the full service side of the cafeteria got taken care of properly and correctly with quality Food as long as she lived to do it well despite the debilitating treatments. It did not matter what hour of day or night or especially how destroyed I would be after fighting weather with flatbedding and pull in for steak and eggs long before sunrise. She actually knew my menu by heart long before i sat down.
There are not too many waitresses left out there. I hope maybe someday when economic freedom is at hand, I might visit a few truckstops in the area to meet and greet everyone. I miss them.Shock Therapy, KANSAS TRANSIT, KillingTime and 3 others Thank this. -
i think its the only way to get these dirtbags attention. nice words & turning your cheek does no good. send them to Jesus, let Him deal with'em

So when all said and done and the smoke is clear. Do you think that gun-wielding trucker still felt like a tough guy while the other driver lay on the ground in front of him dying? Or do you think he felt like a big.... Well I guess we'll say... Kitty cat for lack of a better way to put it because he had up the level of violence? Now don't get me wrong I'm not saying don't protect yourself but there's a line in there somewhere I used to see it all the time working at different bars around Detroit everybody's a tough guy until they think their ### is going to be Kicked and that's when you see these tough guys reach for a pool cue or Bust A Bottle to stab someone because they're afraid to Maybe get an ### kicking. Now I know it can be a clean shoot if you're in fear for your life that's different for everyone but I wonder how often in these situations is it really fear or is it being a coward? If you get into a verbal argument with someone and then they come at you barehanded and it's going to be Knuckles to knuckles and you pull your gun and shoot you got no business getting yourself into any kind of verbal arguments as far as I'm concerned just my two pennies

You never know when you number is about to be up out here.
Its simply just , Surprise ! , you're dead .austinmike Thanks this. -
[Now I am saying this half-heartedly but]
If he was blocking the fuel island or the scales, he needed to be shot.
I sat at the Loves in Talullah, La the other day while one truck was forward of the fuel island & one in the fuel island. Both guys were gone when I pulled up. I'd say after 5 minutes, the one forward of the fuel island came out & went on.
The one in the fuel island was gone long enough that three (3) trucks fueled & left on either side of me.
And drivers blocking the scale. Any mentally retarded 5 year old Indonesian boy would know better than to pull just off the scale & park, blocking the scale. Grown men who do that....... well, you decide
These two things are my two biggest peeves at truck stops. If you do this,(you know if you do this and you know who your are) You are an inconsiderate &%#*@*% !!!KANSAS TRANSIT, exhausted379, 48Packard and 6 others Thank this.
