When I drove for Swift they didn't have a driver ranking system. My guess is you start out at Bronze now and work your way to Platinum, etc. This sounds like a much better system and a way to seperate yourself from drivers who do as little as possible to keep a truck and prefer sitting around terminals and truck stops rather than making a living. I saw plenty of those in my time OTR.
My question for you current Swift drivers, especially those who were there before this driver rankings system was put in place, is what are your thoughts about how life is as a company driver now compared to before it was put in place? Has it really made a difference? I appreciate candid responses.
My job is playing out at the beginning of the year and I am going back to driving, and returning to Swift is a serious consideration.
Thanks for your help!

I've noticed no difference at all. Miles and loads are comparable to what I've always gotten.

Same here, I drive in a regional fleet, but make myself available to other dedicated fleets that run out of here. The gold, silver, and bronze, don't make a difference at all in how I do my job or in how my DM and planners look at what I can and can't do.

Mostly just a recognition thing, some drivers like being able to say "I got a gold ranking". It was also part of the load offering deal. You had to have a certain ranking to take advantage of it. Since I was regional, it made no difference to me, but to get the mac 30 in the beginning you had to be gold. I don't know if that applies still.

The Mac 30 is great. I actually do better with it than waiting for a pplan most of the time. Like if PTA is set for late in the morning because of delivery, many times a planner will not sent a pplan because of that. I can look at Mac 30 and see what is available 18 hours prior to delivery, and many times, will see a great one, and hurry and grab it. In 3 weeks now, I have only gotten pplan twice, the rest, Mac 30
fr8monkey and bigmikectn Thank this. -
The MAC 30 seems well worth its weight in gold compared to waiting on preplans. Being able to view some loads 18 hours out from delivery. Dang. I like it.
I didn't know Swift had a regional fleet. How do you get onto that? Request it with thru your DM? Does this get you more hometime?
Thanks for your help. It is much appreciated. -
The regional fleet I am in, Texas Regional 308, used to do several different accounts. One of the main companies closed and we lost the lanes we had on another. We do backup for a few of the dedicated accounts when they have excess freight, deliver a lot of the loads that are t-called, and bring loads to Lancaster and Houston that go out of our primary area. I am home nearly every weekend and sometimes a night or 2 more during the week. We put in for local pay and get paid our flat rate for all miles, we do not get more pay for fewer miles like you can get if you are regular OTR.
bigmikectn and scottied67 Thank this. -
Don't you have to be of a certain ranking before you can use the mac 30? Waiting on pre-plans is what killed me with Swift.
scottied67 Thanks this. -
From what I am understanding you have to be Gold or higher to use the mac 30. Correct me if I am wrong.
