I get a guaranteed minimum pay every week and if I run more miles I get paid for all the miles. It's a nice way to get paid. I never have bad pay week now dispatch has a tendency to push the truck some I would say. Because their goal is to never let me sit around and pay me for doing nothing

100 years ago murder wasn't that big of a problem, because of the punishment imposed... You were shot, or hung. Bring back stiffer punishments for crimes, and let people be responsible for thier own actions and the problem will solve itself.

List of countries by intentional homicide rate by decade - Wikipedia

The US has been over 5 per 100k from 1911 until 1950s then back up until the 2000s. The country is highly populated now comparatively and yet it keeps going down for some strange reason.

Do you honestly feel your time is worth nothing? Or is it that you’d be the odd man out in your segment trying to collect it? I look back at when I hauled cattle and was told to be somewhere at 8am and it’s 2pm before we’re loaded and all I can think is I left $380 on the table giving away my time like that. I love detention pay. Some months it’s enough to cover my truck payment. At the minimum it covers a couple weeks of fuel.

On a side note, what concerns me more than Mr. Landis’ comments is the lone comment on the article that is a guy thinking it’s a good idea for the government to start regulating someone’s profits.

Well....to respond to Landis. Sir my name is Bryan. I am have 10 years experience behind the wheel of a truck, so that makes qualified to say, that your are not smart. You are a clown. You have to be one dumb mf to talk all that ish to the people who have the switch blade. Now the next thing will be to outlaw trucks that aren't elog capable. Also, as a 10 year veteran of the trucking industry, I am also qualified to say, that elogs are wayyyyyy better than paper logs. Everything is documented. I've gotten more detention pay because of elogs. I get better sleep. My checks are better. The whole thing about sleep deprivation is ridiculous. How many drivers sit in the tv lounge at the truck stop for hours on end? How many sit up watching Netflix or hulu deep into their 10 hr break? How many drivers cant leave the house on time when they go home? Also why would anybody want to work any more than the allotted 14 hours a day? Even if you drive 500 miles, that's a whole day! I mean all this fudging of the paper logs and those drivers really aren't making any more than elog drivers. I dont get it.

I dont sit long enough in lines to make chasing detention pay worth the time even. You realize you're talking out of both sides of your mouth, first you're all in on HOS and in the next breath you're "concerned with somebody thinking government regulating someone's profits is a good idea."

Did you even read the comment on the article? The guy literally wants the government to regulate how much brokers can make. That has nothing to do with hours of service. And my profit is just fine given my circumstances. Hours of Service isn’t profit regulation.

So you like your Elogs good for you keep them.
The whole youtube, Netflix thing, so Mr. Elogs is stopped for 10 hours but watches movies for the first 5, I stop for 6 and sleep the whole time, what's the difference?
