This has big potential for the driver! He's a HERO. A trucker with a heart of gold. And that cruel heartless CEO is a huge grinch. RIGHT? Can somebody get more media on this $TORY?

I would have fired him too. You don't give away what isn't yours. It wasn't his to give away. Perhaps if the home owners hadn't procrastinated.......

Perhaps call and ask for permission?

Then the fella said he'd do it again.
He will be held liable. And he deserves it.

I would be shocked if some of you whom are making this guy out to be a hero, are business owners. Especially in this industry. Who do you think pays for this? Certainly not the insurance company.

Pay for the load from the gofundme and tell the spineless pricks at the company to shove it up their backside.

Before ya'll get on my case I did do something similar as this driver did (although on a much smaller scale). Unless you've actually been in the middle of a major natural disaster you have ZERO grasp on what goes through a person's mind. Its all about the greater good at that point.

Shockster, you and I normally agree on many things. This is not one of them.

Gotta look at the big picture here. Home Depot is a big customer for Western Express. Suppose some pencil pusher at HD HQ saw this and raised a stink? Then WE could be looking at losing the HD contract, costing WE millions in potential revenue and possibly costing other WE drivers their jobs,

Was the driver right? An argument for yes can be made. Was WE right? It pains me to say yes. He didn't own the plywood, he shouldn't have taken it upon himself to give it away. That call should have been made at a higher pay grade, preferably on the HD side.

Personally, I think the driver is a low grade moron.

Here is another wrench to toss into the machinery...

HD is closed. What part of closed don't the people understand? It's trespassing at minimum.

Jesse James was a hero to people in his time. And a villain to many. I think this would be one of those cases.

I used to sleep in Jersey in a variety of places where I can stick a truck. I was usually empty because when I wake up the trailer doors are open again. Durn kids hoping for a load of VCR's or something which were 400 each at the retail in those days.

I don't sleep in jersey much anymore. I-78 in the old 7 exit 76 maybe... That was one of the last of the good stops in that area in it's time.

How many people and trucks make up WE? Im pretty sure they can absorb the losses connected with this one load. But that driver willfully did several things wrong. He has to answer first to WE for it. Then possibly to any prosecutor if they want to take on a escalation legal fight over insurance claim or whatever. Or the driver pleads bankrupcy to protect himself etc etc etc anything is possible.

Irma made a mess. Fine. Everyone should and usually knows what they are fixing to get into going down that way. When it goes to storms like that Im usually the other way finding me a hole if Im going to get catched by a storm. It'll pass by. Then it's time to really do some trucking.

All I see here at minim is big time to do some firing. Starting with the driver then working upwards into dispatch who did maybe or may not have given permission for unauthorized trip all the way to mass and so on.

    25(2)+2 and bigguns Thank this.

The firings, or potential firings, could spread company wide to clean out a lot of "dead wood", (pardon the pun), from the company.

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

    buddyd157 and x1Heavy Thank this.
