Real trainer's don't team. They spend all their hours sitting in the passenger seat instructing the trainee on how to drive the vehicle properly, drive consideratly, pointing out things that the trainee needs to be observant of, & explaining why that ####### ####### just cut them off!

I always thought the Costco reefer division at Swift should be a training section. Heavy loads, lots of hills, plenty of city and highway mix. And most runs under 400 miles. Lots of Portland and Seattle stops

I had 5 years under my belt when I started as a company trainer. 13 years when I became a school instructor.
For many, they could drive 50 years and still not posses the patience and communication skills required to train. To be honest most truckers don't. And if a trainer does, most companies don't have the brains to recognize it when they see it.Big Don Thanks this. -
And in the situation that you described is part of the problem! If a trainer was a REAL TRAINER he would have enough balls to stand up for himself & his trainee. Tell the punk kid who dispatches that either that load will be put on a different truck or re-scheduled to accomadate the training schedule.
But now that I think of it... I've met more women with a larger ball sack then most of the truck driver's I've met.
