Driver with Felony Deferred Adjudication

Yep .....it's all fun and games for Uber drivers until the maintenance bills stack up, or they get into a accident lawsuit with a passenger on board.

 

how long until you can get that expunged?

 

that's good less than a year wait, heres what I suggest, do research on here to find companies that will hire you with a felony (Chinatown probably has some good suggestions). Put in your "starter year" with them, the pay wont be great but you know first year...

then next year you can apply to a more serious company with a years experience and no felonies.

Keep in mind itll normally take a good 3-6 months for it to actually be expunged after you file for it.

 

I bet 99% of the Uber drivers' insurance companies would love to know they are operating a "for hire" vehicle. It is likely if they were in an accident while conveying a passenger there coverage would be void without the proper endorsement on their policy.

 

Crap if I got $1.10 a mile to haul people around consistently, I would do it but there isn't much action here. AND yes I know what the cost of doing business is and that is money making rate to me.

Technically it isn't a "For Hire" situation, you are not paid directly from a customer which matters. You are picking up someone and dropping them off but being compensated through a third party with you in control.

Perhaps. But I still believe the insurance company would put up a fight in paying a claim if they found you were carrying passengers in this type of situation without prior notification. I certainly would not want to wait until a claim to find out.

 

Yes it is a "for hire"....whether it not you're paid directly or thru 3rd party...you're being paid for providing a service.

 

This is going on in trucking as well. IE people hauling super low freight and then going out of business only to have someone buy their truck super cheap and think they can do the same thing hauling for $1.00/mile (less than Uber)
