When I started 8 years ago it was "cdl school, I didn't need no cdl school. I was tossed the keys , told where to pick up, where to deliver and I figured it out on my own".
Now its corporations pussing thru unqualified drivers.
If you want "the good old days", then fine. But expect more of the steering holder variety driver. If you want true professionalism then start working on CDL requirements, not complaining avout atttire.
Drivers don't look like drivers anymore

Ok so ive read most of these dozen or so pages... Some good laughs, and a whole lot of truth... Then there are the few whine-### that don't think others can have an opinion that doesn't a line with their own. Now that that is out of the way...
I'm not a baby boomer, and I sure as he'll ain't no millennial. I'm somewhere on the middle, I suppose I'm what they used to call Generation X. I'm 34 years old... My normal everyday attire for the last 25 years or so has been long sleeve button down shirts, wrangler jeans, boots (either work or cowboy, usually both steel toe), and a hat (either ballcap or cowboy). I will say that I wear a pair of sneakers when I drive... But I have my work boots infront of the passenger seat and I can be in them in less than 5 seconds if need be (they may not be tied but my feet are protected). I only wear sandles in the shower, I carry all my clothes and toiletry bag in a very nice heavy duty duffle bag. I shower and shave at least every other day, and wear deodorant (and use an extra dose of deodorant before going to customer for good measure). I use Yes Sir, No Sir, Yes Mamm, No Mamm, Please, Thank You, and Your're Welcome when appropriate to do so.
I can remember what truck stops were like in the late 80s into the 90s... Truck drivers were like hero's back then, someone a kid could look up to. Now days I have to tell my children its rude to point at people and laugh when we go into a truck stop. I wouldnt want my kids to idleize the average American Trucker anymore. I really don't care what others wear, but guarantee that if you fit the stereotypical description of this new type of truck driver I will probably be less likely to stop and offer my help to you if you are anything short of dying or in danger of bodily injury.
I try to put forward the imagine that I looked up to as a kid, in hopes that I can be someone kids can look look up to as well. I do this also cause it is how I was raised, to be clean, honest, and worth my salt. And maybe, just maybe, others will follow the example.Auctioneer, Dino soar, POS#2 and 12 others Thank this. -

I don’t understand the preocupation with trucker fashion. I don’t care what someone is wearing. I only care that they can drive the truck, and seeing how some of you drive scares me.
I pull a chemical tank. When I’m at the plant loading or unloading I wear Redwings. When I’m walking around the truck stop I may be wearing those redwings, or new balance sneaks, or........... flip flops. I only wear shoes in the truck while sitting in the drivers seat because of what might be on my shoes/boots/flip flops from walking around the truck stop or chemical plant.
Flip flops are easiest on and off. Sneaks are next. 8 inch redwings are a pain in the ### to take off and relace just to grab a drink out of he fridge..Last edited: Aug 6, 2018
