When I was driving it was generally cowboy boots, blue jeans, and some sort of tucked in collared shirt. Either a company shirt, or something like a flannel patterned shirt or something similar to that. Cowboy hat and/or baseball cap. Just kinda depended on what I felt like wearing that day. When it got cold, long John's underneath, fleece lined jeans, hoodie and a coat over.

I like to be comfortable, and always have for over 30 years of driving truck. In summer it is usually shorts, white T-shirt, and sandals on my feet. If I'm going to be loading up and chaining down equipment lets say for example, slip on my coveralls over my clothes, and my redwings on my feet. The moment I'm done I take them back off. Driving in boots and jeans is not comfortable enough for me.

Honestly, I find this idea of; "I dress for comfort" thing very odd.

    1. What in the world is wrong with comfortable work clothes?
    2. Is this so called "comfortable thing" just another excuse for not conforming to traditional work clothes or, God forbid, company uniforms? In other words, it's ok to dress like a slob? Screw the company and anyone who doesn't like it.....
    3. Where did the idea of dressing for comfort while on the job come from.
    4. Did 'mommy' pat these people in the head and ask; "are you comfortable sweetie"? Don't forget your backpack!
    5. When and where was it proclaimed that it was ok for employees (drivers) to drive a company truck while getting paid by the company, on company business looking like a beach bumb or like your on vacation?
    6. Has the world changed so much that companies are so desperate to put slobs behind the steering wheel?
    7. Are companies so desperate for drivers that they are willing to let any slob in shorts sandles/flip flops drive a couple of hundred thousand dollars of equipment down the highway and show up at the shipper or consingenee looking like they just climbed out of a dumpster?
    8. Where the hell do these people who dress for comfort , in whatever they feel comfortable in, get the idea that they can present themselves to customers and the public looking like they are headed for the beach or the homeless shelter?

We live in a college town and I am regularly amused/disgusted by the slovenly appearance of these kids in public places. Like literally pajamas, bare feet (so gross) and dirty hair at Kroger or Ihop. Wandering into the campus student center like that is one thing, but where the rest of us have to look at you? No.

Against my better judgement, I’m going to weigh in on this. I don’t consider myself old school by any measure of the stick. Even with 30+ years as a driver.

But I #### well remember the looks I got my first year. Wearing hot pink with lime green waistband shorts, and a wife beater shirt.

The more things change, the more they remain the same.

There are some who come into the Walmart here (Pick one, any one) wearing bed clothing. Essentially PJ's with nothing else under or over.

I cannot understand this slovenly or lazy behavior. Especially from some people who has had a very tough life as evidence by bags of wrinkles, body and skin cancer damage and destruction and essentially skin wreckage from being obese in places that really should be wearing proper clothing.

I don't see that too often, but when I do I have a total and absolute desire to leave the place now. It's just not fitting.

Eyebleach does not begin to start to take away some of the burn on visual memories. Even a web site has walmart people dressed badly.

As a side note you would think beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I could use some of that after this series of disgusting slops in the store.

Long ago in Friendship Airport (A cookie for those of you who knows it's current name or 4 letter designation) people wore suits to go flying formally. It was a big deal to be nice in public in those days.
