Two of the last big orange balls I saw was in Martinsburg, W.Va. and Tallulah, La. They finally succumbed to the T/A in the 90s. Anybody remember the Bluebird in downtown Atlanta? Had their sign stuck up there in the air about 20 miles. That was before I20 went through there. It was the only TS around Atlanta then Ive got pics of it somewhere. They had a sign above the counter telling folks who came in that Truckers would be served First.lol

Needless to say, he got hurt and learned a painful lesson, OSHA got called to investigate, the rules got tighter about the loading procedures & what used to be a 30 minute load became a 1 3/4 hour pain in the ###."
Response: Such a good example of how our job gets harder and harder with more and more rules and regulations. New procedures are often precipitated by incidents which were preventable by using a little common sense. If you've been in the business for any length of time you've seen the guy next to you display reckless disregard for procedures and eventually one gets hurt. Then the investigation and new rules are put into place. Safety is big business nowadays and some people just don't seem to get it.
Good of you to point to it wishfulthinking. -
You can see an accident waiting to happen around those jokers.
2old Thanks this. -
That would certainly weed out some of these so-called “drivers”, wouldn’t it?

There you go, when dealing with customers or hazardous product you dress appropriately.
When you have a drive day and are only going to deal with truck stop people then you can dress casually.
It’s so easy a caveman can understand it.gentleroger Thanks this. -

Not by choice...
I’ve ran spring ride two sticks before. I’m proud of that and I’ll put my experience up against anyone’s. -
No...
Company uniform consisting of something along the lines of Dickies and work boots, and my personal choice of additions to that, a baseball cap with my make of truck on it.
“But Mr. Mack, nothing says ‘owned’ like a company shirt”.
Well, that’s because you’re a moron and you choose to believe that. The rest of us with a modicum of pride will continue to dress like we have some sense.Farmer54, just_sayin, Randy O and 5 others Thank this. -
Used to into the 76 in Fairfield, CA. back in the 60’s and early 70’s. The restaurant had a divider, said drivers only beyond this point.
justa_driver and 2old Thank this.
