Drivers new and old...don't be bullied.

Every drywall plant I ever went to. They had the flatbeds strap down on site. They put the tarps on for the drivers ahead of time. Not allowed to climb on trailers.

The other side of the coin...
Reefer in the middle of the night. Mass of trucks there to deliver. Supertruckers are always trying to cut ahead of everyone else. One night...
We were standing in line for the lumpers. Lady comes storming out of the receiving office. Hands this guy his paperwork. Says: "You get your truck back out to the waiting area! I didn't call you! You wait for me to call you!"

 

I wish you otr guys could treat loads more like local companies are able to. Don't wanna receive it when you are supposed to? No problem, it's going back! Call and order it again. I understand that isn't really an option when it came from 2000 miles away but it would be nice if you guys could do that because that fixes attitudes real quick.

 

One time I came clear from Minneapolis to Laredo. Had to be there at 9am Friday. I rationalize they had a truck there waiting to take this load over the border. I get a call at 9:10am. Dispatch sheepishly asks me ETA. I said: 2 minutes. I'm two miles from there. Dispatch perked up and said: Thank You! Geesh... it's a long ways. Tight run. Traffic problem in Austin just about killed me.

 

For a short while I pulled affes trailers. at the terminal at tracy cali had a dispatcher that lets just say wa as racist as they came, and I was the wrong race. AAny way she sat behind a sliding window wih a sign that said to open ot to talk to her, well I made the mistake of opening it, she slammed it back shut and stuck a stick she had in it where you couldn't open it while she was cussing you. lo; I had already dropped and all I needed her to to was tell me my railer nimber, she told me to go in the drivers room and have a seat.
I did and got to talking to a couple of drivers, in there, who explained that I was the wrong color and it would be late that evening before she would give me my trailer number. All other terminals was just grab your trailer and go. One of the ladys came out of the office for a break and I got to talking to her, and ask why the witch didn't take that sign down, she said, hell she put it up, she liked doing that.
I came back a month or so later and the witch was not there the sign was, but the stick was not. The nice lady was sitting there, and it looked like some work had been done to the window itself. I ask what was up, and she told me she did the same thing to another guy and he broke the window and snatched her out threw it. Before it was ove with she had lost her job. lol

 

I did that all the time at UPS....like ALL the time. It's funny when people call your bluff and then call UPS to get it re delivered just to find out a shuttle truck has already taken it back lol. Home Depot was a big one for that. I would get there every morning and nobody had keys to unlock the dock doors. Walmart was the same way too, we didn't put up with their crap at all. I had the store manager give me her cell number after a while and tell me to call her directly if nobody would open the door. It was amazing how fast that would get me in there.

 

I delivered a load to laredo out of seattle, when I got there they didn't even have a way to unload if they wanted to. I ask where they wanted it and they told me where to drop the trailer, I explained it didn't work like that, it was my trailer, not a drop trailer. they knew it but somebody would take it to mexico and bring it back. I'm like that doesn't fit in my business model, we unload, and I pull my trailer. he said that is what they do, I said I deliver and my contract says I'm here job done. lol He finally wanted to call, my office, I said fine, and gave him the office number, my wife gave him my cell number I answered it and ask if he was satisfied now. lol
He finally old me to take it a mile down the road and they had a yard there with a crane and trailers of their own. and off load it load oit on theirs and bring it back. I'm like do you not understand that my job is done, I am not tieing down and bring your trailer back. He said somebody has too we have to pay for that kkind of stuff I'm like DUH. lol

 

I hauled exactly one home depo load with 2 drops to get them scratched off my list, during my short van dragging days. lol I did haul a flatbed load later for them, but after I found out it went to home depo I made them give me another contract before I would leave with the load, with detention charges in writing. lol
