so uncommon you'll probably never see a job like that :biggrin_2558:. I have a job offer at the moment hauling Yatchs, which they do not want parked in Truck Stops (to much electronics inside to steal) so they wanna put me in a day cab and pay for hotels every night... But short of a local driver (in a day cab) running OOH you most likey wont see any jobs like that.

I thought about this question myself and I think I would only do that if I had my own truck, was a great driver, and loved the industry. Because if I got fired then I would be homeless too. I am a homeowner and plan to pay off my house so then my house would be used as storage.

Thanks, I am considering living out of a truck for 2 years to save 40-60K to buy a truck...but your right, I dont have enough experience to hate being in a truck yet.

Your goal is to be a wanna be O/O? and then pay 3 times what the truck is worth to hold the Title? :biggrin_2559:

Better then stevens.....thats not hard to do....

I think your goal should be to learn how to be a safe proffesional driver....THEN worry about buying a truck...KEY WORD "BUYING"

Lets do some math here AT... A brand new Peterbuilt 387 cost $120,000 and most companies use them and sell around 500,000 miles for $50-60K.

    60K depreciation to drive 500,000 miles = 12cpm
    most O/O set aside 10cpm for maintenance/repairs

    seems profitable to me[IMG]

oh look at you useing numbers:biggrin_2555:

Why dont you post how much the lease payments are per WEEK? and how many WEEKS? and how much Stevens charges you if you drive to many miles in the month?

And a Smart O/O doesnt do .10cpm they maintain an Amount in there maintiance account.....

Lets see .10cpm for lets say you get 25,000 miles in before your 1st break down....thats only $2,500 in there what good is that a Tow truck cost $1,000+ :biggrin_2559:

I've been around trucking since i was little, my dad is a truck driver, all of his buddies are truck drivers, ive spent years on here and other places learning about trucking and becomeing an O/O and i've been driving almost 4 years. Im not stupid and i know how most of these lease purchace programs work and i KNOW that stevens is just another bottom feeder company..

Awesome! I knew you had some street smarts, I was planning on skipping the L/O(losing) plan and save longer and step right into O/O. The hard part will be finding/establishing a route with good shippers. Thanks for not wasting our time...how long till you get your first truck?
