I'm sure it happens a lot, drivers parked in your way. Whether at the truck stop or shipper/receiver.

I'm not the type of person to threaten someone with violence, so what can you do if you ask the driver to move and he tells you to go fudge yourself?

    Ummmm.....

Make your turn in such a way as to place your trailer within an inch or so of his tractor? At least...close enough to make him nervous. This works especially well if it says "Swift" or "Werner" on your trailer.

Walk into the shipper... and tell the shipping clerk that the guy in that truck right there is really mad at him/her, and he called them a &^&ing &*())^. Yeah, that should do it.

If they're parked in a parking lot entrance/exit and would inconvenience a bunch of people, you get the manager and have them deal with it.

If you're at a shipper or receiver, and the other driver is interfering with your ability to complete your job, go tell someone in shipping or receiving. or security.

Hey! I resemble this remark! Grin first time I went to Poland Springs. It was my first attempt to back to the dock. So I got the trailer dead on. Went to pull forward to straighten the truck with the van and the guy at the dock door locked the ltl bar. There I was with the van on #23 and the truck on #22. Wouldnt you know it 15 mins later the yard manager came out to see why he couldnt use dock #22. He had a good laugh at my predicament, so did every one else on the cb, about the Western Express driver that needed 2 lanes to get loaded.

Thankfully I no longer let the ltl bar touch till I am totally straight. Sigh

Can you be more specific, please? I'm trying to understand your post. Do you mean that you pull in behind someone and decide that they're blocking you? (I don't think you mean that) Do you mean that you arrive at, say, a DC and people are just supposed to move out of your way? (You don't seem to be someone with an attitude problem) Actually, I'm not sure that it happens a lot. I can't recall it ever happening to me or seeing/hearing arguments about it.

If you're at a shipper/consignee and the S/C gives you a door or tells you where to park and someone's got attitude and won't move, then you go inside and tell them; that should solve the problem. What ronin and Sequoia said. It's really okay to do this. Dont be afraid to speak up.

If you're at a truck stop, get the manager. If you can safely pull around, do it.

How about this one. You are waiting to get on the scale at the truck stop. Mr. Supertrucker pulls off the scale and just parks to go inside - OR just stays on the scale. You, and undoubtedly other trucks, are now backed up waiting to scale. Also had an instance in Hagerstown, MD at the Pilot in which a Smith Transport driver pulled up after fueling and was out of his truck for (I am not making this up) OVER 25 MINS (I know because I pulled in behind him after scaling, so I had the time stamp on the scale ticket)! When the management finally tracked him down, he cussed everyone out, then sat in his truck eating his sandwich and smoking a cigarette, still blocking the island. 3 deep at every other pump, so I could not back up and go to a different one. FINALLY the manager got him to move. This is the worst experience I have had of this kind, but not the only one of course.

We have all had this experience--and I do try to hold my tongue--but it gets difficult--things go on out here everyday--that IMHO back when I started might just have gotten you hurt--there(contrary to popular belief)was a lot more comraderie back then--BUT a lot less TOLERANCE for BS--but such is the world today--I actually had a driver a while back start to cuss me(he thought better of continuing!) after I pulled in behind him--fueled--went in paid etc.....came out--and he was still sitting in his truck in front of fuel island eating--I politely walked up to his open window--and asked if everything is ok--he was dumbfounded--I told him I figured he had a problem since he now been blocking a fuel island for at least 20 minutes--and I would have happily backed out--but there were trucks behind all the trucks that were already fueling--he said if I was in such a hurry I should have picked a different fuel Island(expletive deleted)course he managed to get it in gear and release the brakes--about time I started to jerk his door open!

I pulled in for a at a J and this guy was in front of the fuel Island. I got fuel got my ticket a soda and he was still there! I waited for 10 mins walked inside and told the LADY at the fuel counter she walks over to this slug sitting in a booth and begins to put him in his place about parking his truck and so forth. she sounded worse than any sailor I ever met this poor guy looked like a beat puppy I actually felt bad for the guy. But he did move and in a hurry. a little 5ft 2 redhead put him in his place.

Unfortunately those types are not smart enough to get online and participate in a forum. They are sad low lifes with no concerns but themselves. It's scary they are allowed to share the roads with the public. I always consider others when parking. Sometimes you can't help it in a truckstop though. The guy behind you is fuel and go or stopped to just go to the bathroom and you are stuck inside waiting on a slow clerk and long line with this driver sweet talking and this one scanning trips and this one getting a pay advance.

Rule #1 at shipper and receivers is not to block the docks. I won't hesitate telling some inconsiterate driver to move. You're right Jim, They usually get pissed when you challenge them. So be it. Stop being an idiot. The world owes you nothing.
