This is kind of like having the receiver sign for the seal......that could have
been installed 5 minutes before you got there.....being intact before the
doors were opened and you backed into the dock.
It only makes the folks you work for feel better if an OSand D claim is filed.Yup Thanks this. -

I haven't always pulled tanks.
At one time I was a city pick up & drop driver in Vancouver BC. All I did was drop empty's & pick up loaded trailers from the shippers doors. Shipper Load & Count went on every single single BOL I signed. And some times things were shorted, it never came out of my pocket, but I can guarantee you it would have if I never put Shipper Load & Count on the BOL. That's My experience yours may be different, but I highly recommend it if you can't count the load, if you don't put anything on the BOL, well, then your covered by nothing at all. Something is always better than nothing.

Hmm...I will try to make it clear once again...
In the cases I am talking about, a driver HAS NO CHANCE of noting slc on the bol...at least not on the shipper's copy.
I mean, it is irrelevant what you write on your copy if it doesn't match the shipper's one as well.
So, any ideas EXCEPT 'then don't take the load'? -

one more thing...you may as well spend 3-5 hours in the c/s's freezer counting as getting loaded...
so, let's say after 5 hrs at 3 am your count says 3,754 pieces, and when you get to the window you are handed bol with your signature on it stating 3,874.
and in addition to that you read 46,200 lbs and you know that all over 45000 will also be over 80000. and you know you CAN'T haul that legally. but hey, guess what...you already signed for it, right? so what do you do now??? -

You MAN THE F UP and tell them to make either the load or the paperwork right.
You as a driver then make the required ADJUSTMENTS and get the load DELIVERED!
bottom line . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Understandably its pretty scary when there are no airplane noises following the next spoon of applesauce
