This may have a thread already...I didn't scroll through them all. My friend, also a truck driver newbie, went through Driver Solutions, ohio, and recommended it to me. It's like a company that compiles company sponsored training schools and matches them to you. So I would apply at Driver Solutions, pick the company from their list that I want to work for, then start school with that company. There's only two companies in Ohio currently...USA Truck and PAM Transport. Both sound nice as far as training pay, etc.

What I'm wondering is... does anyone have experience with Driver Solutions? Or USA Truck or PAM Transport? Any other routes that require no money out of pocket for me to start training?

    TIA
    ~Angie

I just completed my training with Drivers Solution (C1 in Fort Wayne Indiana) on July 3rd. I was very impressed with the instructors. I attended TDI in South Bend Indiana back in 01' and I actually like Drivers Solution better. The option of having a job offer before you start training is a plus. I chose USA Truck and just completed my orientation today and now I am waiting for a OTR Trainer. Overall I am satisfied with my choice.... I think that it is a good option for someone who wants to be a trucker and cant afford the $6K up front....Good training, decent companies to choose from and a pay check...not bad if you have been out of work for a while like I was. Hope this helps a little.

Driver Solutions isnt bad. They only help employ for those two companies. As long as the school they send you to is a good one you'll do fine...There are some other programs. You can skip Driver Solutions & find a company that trains you, same way DS does but you train in trucks that you'll most like be assigned to. Or try the Workforce program in your state. You'll have to take some test but the reward of tuition free training..??? But also with that, some states are having money issues, so the money may or may not be there.

Ive heard that some of the DS schools are crap but I can honestly say that the one in Ft. Wayne Indiana has good instructors and decent trucks to learn on. Like I said, I attend TDI in South Bend Indiana back in 01' and I think the instructors at C1 in Ft. Wayne are alot more professional. From what I witnessed while I was there the only way people didnt make it was drug test, physical or the fact they just couldnt learn to drive the big truck. You get what you put into it, just like anything else in life. Dont expect to pass if you think you are just gonna coast by. If you want a CDL, dont mind trying, not afraid of failing at first(not everyone passes the first time around but those who dont they WILL work with you), and want a job, DS is a decent place to achieve this. Again this is my personal opinion.....

Jaycal, I went to tdi in Murfreesboro tn 5 years ago and they did a good job there. I quit werner and went back to working on computers until last year, I called up ds and they tried to get me to go to cr England and I told them no. they then sent me to C1 in Little Rock and while I was there, we had a fight on campus that I was involved in because this racially superior black dude decided he wanted to go get drunk and pick on the skinny white guy, needless to say, he was left bloody beside the barbecue grill while I smoked acig and proceeded to bed. 2 nights later there was a stabbing at the school. Then I finally broke down and went to swift school....it sucked, but it got me back in a truck

    witchh.dokta..
I can only speak about the one here in Indiana, but sounds like the one in little rock is a little unstable at best...The Ft. Wayne campus proved to be pretty good since me and 2 others passed the first time we tested for state to get our cdls..the others from my class completed the program about 4 days later which put all of us 2 weeks 2 days to 3 weeks to complete the program.. Beware though, if you go to C1 in Ft Wayne, you will stay in a very crappy run down should be shut down by the health department style hotel...
