Sorry if this is long winded, I am new here so bear with me m'kay.

The last time I drove a truck was in March 2006 and at that time I had 8 months experience up to that point. My father was ill and I had to take care of him; he passed away in September 2007 and after a year of getting the old homestead squared away I am looking for a job. The problem is that most trucking companies will not hire me because I have been out of trucking too long and have not had enough experience. One company told me that if I had 12 months they could have hired me and and other's would have liked me to have had at least 3 months experience in the last year to even consider me. After calling many trucking companies I got one who actually gave me a reference to another company who could help. That company is CRST

I called CRST last week and am still waiting to hear from them. Apparently, they can put you in some kind of refresher course; but I am worried because of what I have read in the DAC report section of these forums. Go and read it if you haven't, its pretty brutal. What should someone like me do? What are my options? What companies will help? Is there anyone who has been in a similar situation? Thanks for reading if you got this far, I hope to contribute more to the site. I like it here.

Pam offers a refresher, they would be better than crst. Also check out roehl, good ole swifty, and the other large training mills. Watkins shepperd offers a 10 day training program without going otr with a trainer. This would be the best to get on with. There are also refresher courses offered at cdl schools, public and private. Dont go to CRST!! Google cdl refresher courses, good luck and keep us posted.
