I am curious. I am a true born night person. I could sleep for 3 hours and get up when the sun is down and function perfect... I can get 7 hours and get up in the morning and feel like I got hit by a....semi.

I am curious if it is common practice by anyone to drive mostly at night and park when the sun comes up?

Is that something you can decide yourself or is it completely up to the company?

It will all be controlled by the shipper and receiver.

It will be handed to you, by your company.

Time permitting, you can get a "semi" schedule going. I generally empty out in the early morning, run grab my next load. Then take a brief nap, and run into the night.

My afternoon nap may be 2 hours, or it may be 6 hours.

Long runs of over 1400 miles, can be done on your own schedule. Provided the appointments have not been set to restrictive.

Unless you're hardcore pattern type of person IE Must have 10 hours sleep in one shot. You'll get a system that fits you, worked out before long.

I generally sleep when I feel the need. But, my pattern consist of at least one day where I literally die for about 10 hours. The rest of the week is done in 1-8 hour sleep breaks.

It's controlled by the load... shippers/receivers. You do your trip plan, and see what kind of time you've got. If it's tight, you get going. If you have some slack, it's look at the "fairy tale" to see where you are hours-wise, then its how do I feel? And yeah, somewhere along the line its crash hard.

    Down side to this...

Needing a quick nap, and NO place to park. Thankfully, I'm running many of the same routes every week. So I'm finding out of the way places through other drivers, for parking.
