Hello everyone. As the title says, I was pulled over driving a without a cdl. I was pulling a 32ish foot flatbed gooseneck with a Ford from Kansas to Georgia. Never in my mind I thought I would need a cdl for that, until I got to Mississippi. I was pulled over right before getting into Alabama for not stopping at the weight station. State trooper made me drive back to weight station where he told me I needed a cdl to drive that truck. He ended up not ticketing me, but made me leave the trailer at the weight station until someone with a cdl came to pick it up. My question is, since Im thinking about going to trucking school, will that disqualify me from getting a cdl in Texas? I wasn't fined or ticketed but did make me sign a paper with all the infractions. Thanks!

I don't see where that would disqualify you.

If you can pass the tests, you should be fine.

Let me ask you this. Was the trailer empty at the time?

Probably an inspection form you signed. You may have to explain it if it ends up on DAC but Most people driving pickups pulling trailers dont know CDL Law so I cant see how it would hurt you?

Don't worry about it; nothing to be concerned about.
Start preparing for CDL school. Study the CDL Practice Tests which can be accessed by clicking on "CDL Practice Tests" at the top of this page. Also, Google : Free CDL Practice Tests Texas

Get a TWIC ID Card. Google for nearest TWIC office to apply for this. This ID is used for entry to chemical plants, rail yards, sea ports, military bases.

Get all the endorsements, especially hazmat/tanker endorsements. All the tests are simple and easy.

You have a lot to do before cdl school starts. By planning ahead, you can start your new career making real good paychecks.

Definitely not DAC because only employers can put things on there. PSP yes but then again he doesn't have a CDL to begin with so probably not.
