Driving for P.O.D.S, I do not drive for this company my son in law does. I know the HOS rules as I've had my CDL A with all endorsements for close to 10 years now. I'm trying to get it into my son in laws thick head I just want reassurance as to what I've been telling my daughter and him (she understands, He refuses). when I'm driving within the 9 1/2 hour going into the 10th our I'm looking to shut it down. so by the 11th hour the truck is stopped. His company PODS, they work there drivers all crazy hours. at the moment Monday the 14th hes been out there 14 going on 15 hrs, no actual lunch break. and for the most part of what my daughter has told me is , this is an everyday accurance for the same number of hours. I've told her if and when, if he ever does get into an accident, I want to know what the color of his new shiny "braclets" look like. and possible the name of the "county hotel" he'll be staying at. I may be off on my hours but last I looked them up they were locally driving (1) day you could run for up to 14 hrs the rest of the week you can only run 11 hour days , after any given day with a 10 hr rest period.... I told her that not only can DOT site him they can also get the company... but in the long run the company is going to cover their ###, and it will be his word against theirs. he's the driver, he should know better as to when to start and stop. all it takes is someone else to cause the accident and its his ### on the razor thin line......... please any and all comments reguarding this matter greatly appercited:biggrin_25511: puzzled with this mattter

Get a copy of the new CA2010 rules and tell him that if he doesn't straighten his arse up he'll be sitting there watching the trucks go by the Burger King he'll be working at!

As far as driving locally, if you are released from the same place where you report for duty every day, you are restricted to a 14 hour duty cycle, but you can have one day with a 16 hour duty cycle. But as far as I know you still can't drive more than 11 hours. This is if you are running a log book. If you are running a time card then you are stuck with the 12 hr and 100 nm radius deal.
