30+ years driving, I agree. However, I've seen many who can't look at their speed without getting distracted so....

Half of our fleet is Swift trucks with cameras and those guys crash seriously into stuff. I still see them working for Swift pulling our loads and not in jail.

Again, the problem isn't with the criminal courts, but rather with the civil actions brought to court by the blood-sucking 1-800-sue-a-trucker lawyers who will use the clips to paint the driver in the worst possible light in order to push blame from their client onto the "deep pockets" of the truck company. No longer is it 100% their client's fault for diving across 2-3 lanes of traffic inches from your front bumper while hard on the brakes so they can make their exit. Now, because you have a "history" of inattention behind the wheel (as evidenced by the clips they subpoenaed from your company and the 3rd party go-between), you get to shoulder some of the blame as well...and cut THEM a check. Nobody is saying you'd go to jail...just that you'll get to write a check for a wreck you otherwise wouldn't have shared any of the blame for causing. Yes, it's bullexcrement...but that's trial lawyers for you.

Here is a perfect case of a drivecam vid. Now in viewing this I saw several cases of where a D.A. Would eat this guy alive in court!!!

As far as the camera issue for most drivers there against it. And have already stated that they will retire once brought in. But cameras are another example of how they claim we are professionals, but we don't get professional treatment in this industry!!!
Give a guy a 100k-150k truck and a 250k trailer. With a 1 million dollar load and he has been perfect in a 18 year career. But now someone feels a need to put him under a camera w/ a mic. Who's going to go for that???
I've only seen driver facing cameras used to fire ppl. And this story of we aren't spying on you is false. Former saftey director told us. We know what your listening to on the radio. And who yall are talking too. Now that's an invasion of privacy. And I feel a class action suit coming about for violating the constitution with these camera companiesborn&raisedintheusa, Heathar and foggy Thank this. -
