I Freakin knew it! I was with the Big Mo on her last trip in the Med. No sound on earth sounds like the big guns! I suppose they are now gone.

 

Oh, got all excited, The Jersey girl is cool too, but miss the Big Mo. I was Amphib support on LPD 13 USS Nashville.

 

All 4 of them that were recommissioned are now decommissioned again.

I realize it's progress, but feel sorry for today's sailors that never heard a big gun do her magic. Nothing in the world sounds like that..it will wake the dead.

 

Have you looked at www.hullnumber.com and checked with your ship mates?

 

I know, I believe those who made that decision never saw them perform. But, maybe there is better stuff now....I don't know how if you have seen them in action.
