Or. If you had a girlfriend in Orange County, you should tell them you don't like to run into Southern California.
Or. If you like easy, short and medium range hauls, you should request coast to coast hauls.DoubleO7 Thanks this. -
Another company people don't think about is LTL will allow you to stay out. Estes loves drivers that do this. Cause they got so many drivers whining about going home weekly. They'll run all over the US. Stay in a hotel every night and on a 34hr restart. Hotel paid for. Actually have money to spend. They pay their extraboard more money. Top out is .65-.67cpm on extraboard. No waiting on live unloads. Dispatch gets a woody from what I read for drivers that don't go home. Plus it's likely more mileage then regular OTR. Cause of the turn and burn factor. When you get experience might want to look into this.
t_v, Toomanybikes, FullMetalJacket and 1 other person Thank this. -

If I HAD to do it, hated it, or was forced...completely agree. No way, no how, would I ever do it. Unhappy makes for miserable life.
You would have to know my situation. I DO NOT have to do ANY of this.
I am retired and relatively financially secure. Everything paid for, no bills but for cell & storage. It's not 100% about the money for me, though I'm sure not doing it for free. Just too young to sit on my keester, never was my style. Nomad at heart. I am doing what I do because I love & enjoy it. That seems to take all the "work" right out of the equation.
It's just an added bonus that I can make the money I do & run as much as I do. All by free will & choice.
The way I run suits me perfectly & was EXACTLY what I was looking for. Happy, happy all the way. And, THAT is what should be most important, over all else.
Oh yeah:
Come to think of it......have never, ever had a codriver or student refer to me as a SANE individual...? Quite the contrary!
(But, they all had a blast & are all still good friends).
So, maybe you DO have a good point there? But, to commit me.......you're gonna have to catch me! Mu ha ha ha.......!t_v, KillingTime and DoubleO7 Thank this. -
Very hard to get a foot in the door, as guys just do not seem to not leave. That, right there, speaks volumes. And, they are also pretty selective.
Good place to set sights on, as they treat their drivers very well. Good pay, good benefits, + much more.Radman Thanks this.
