Driving OTR do you really get to see the country?

    You can see all that on google earth you wont get time for stopping at every small town you pass through .

    Trucking in general is like a strip club, you can look but not touch. This is especially true if you stick to the interstate freeways. The most scenic driving I did was in my four wheeler on old US highways. I drove parts of Route 66 and did 400+ miles on US 41 from Chicago to Guthrie KY on my way to Florida. In fact my life aspiration is to leave the rat race behind, move into my van, and become a nomad just touring the country. That is my ticket to happiness.

    I stopped at a place like that several years ago. Complete with tumbleweeds and the creepy lady working the cash register. There were maybe five trucks parked there for the night. Slept very well though because it was so quiet.
