RC. have you talked to a Driver Liaison? If you have not, call and ask to talk to one. They can fix stuff fast.

Just over it. Going home. I called my FM and got someone else who said how can I help u? when they answered, so I asked for my FM and was told she isn't in. yes, she is. So I tell this guy I quit and he says let me find ur FM. He comes back on the line and says she's just getting logged in and she will call u back in a minute-5hours ago. If they don't care, neither do I at this point. Not sure if I ever want to drive again at this point. My husband is about an hour away and I am so ready to get out of this place. I was talking to a couple who have been teaming for about 7 years with usx and they said it's gone way downhill and they are only holding out until june when he turns 65 and they are gone.

RC I am sorry to see that USX sucked the life out of you too. It is a shame that they can not work with people better then what they do, and they wonder why people wont stay with them.
There are other company's out there, if this is what you want to do, then I would hope you would look for another company to drive for.

One other thing, be careful how you leave USX. IF the truck is not at one of their terminals, they can and will put on your DAC report that you abandoned the truck, and from what I have heard that can be really bad.

RebelChick, How long have you been with US Xpress ? Only getting 1800 miles a week...do you mean on average 1800 or a maximum of 1800 regardless of week? Do you have enough time in to get a local driving job yet?

The insurance companies Michigan companies hiring local drivers use in my area want to see new hires with 2 years minimum experience at this point in time.

HD, truck is at the lexington terminal. I have just shy of a year experience, ml. It's like the better companies expect you to "earn your experience" the hard way with these mega companies before they deem you worthy of them. Sucks for those of us who don't want to deal with it.
I never got more than 1800 miles a week. For the first month, I only got about 1000 -1100 miles a week. Parked the truck and told usx to take a hike, but my old fm talked me into staying. Then he quit. Got a new fm, and lots of promises that didn't happen. Then got hurt on the job and was home for there weeks. Finally decided I would rather be home than deal with it any more.

I've been on the DG account for the past 6 years. For me, it works out great. I'm home by dinner time on Saturday and don't leave until lunchtime on Monday. If I want to get home on Friday all I have to do is ask a week ahead of time. On a slow week, I gross 1200. On a good week, 1500. If you want to make money on this account, take your brakes at the stores so you don't waste hours on a pre-trip and drive time before you start unloading your first stop. Keep a cooler or fridge in the truck and shower when you fuel. It's not for everyone but it's the best money and most time at home I've found as a company driver. I run out of the Marion, IN DC. I've heard that Zanesville isn't do great to run out of but that's second-hand info.

I'll say first hand zanesville isn't great to run out of. Mostly for guys who live far up in the north east. If you live close to zanesville you can do alright. I gave it a shot and it just wasn't going to work out for me. What can I say I tried right?

Sorry to hear you can't make it work, RC. Seems that USX did offer you what you needed so your husband could ride along, but you turned it down because it had an auto.

    So what?

We all hate autos. But it's not forever. I had (2) 10 speed Cascadias, and lost them to warranty repairs. And I ended up in an auto. Sure I didn't like it, but I work for USX to earn money by moving freight. As long as I have a truck that helps me get the job done is what matters. Having a passenger in your truck is a privilege that USX allows. And the menial amount of money USX deducts is to offset the cost of insurance.

You would have ended up with the ideal truck eventually. You focused too much energy on truck hunting, instead of learning how to do your job. That's too bad. You seem to have the potential to be a great driver.

Well, Good luck to you, RC.

Well we got 7400 miles on this past check. It is not
always perfect on the communication side but most
big companies have issues. The driver liasion has helped
us in the past. Just call the switch board and ask to speak
    to one.

NoCoCraig, Wedge and Buffalo644 Thank this.
