Here is an update about my job decisions... My friend changed his mind about doing teams so I think that am going to Maverick or Averitt as a solo driver. I do have pre-hires from US XPRESS and Averitt. Waiting on Maverick and verification of my previous work history still.

i have spoken to a different company other than heartland and us xpress myself and it looks like there is a possible 3rd in the making ... but one thing i do is I will NOT waste the companies time to run me if i know i wont be going. THey asked for my info, all 3 companies and i told them and they know NOT to run me so i have pre-hires from the 3 companies based on my info to them which is all true, so i know nothing could fall back on my end... its pretty easy when you have the experience and a clean DAC and MVR and your previous employers didnt screw your DAC report. I am without a doubt one of the luckier ones on here due to that fact that they have not messed with my DAC report. I should knock on wood... i have had some trouble with 2 of my former companies, but as always, you take the good with the bad and try and move on and hope for a greener pasture.. but most of the times in my almost 17 yrs of driving, i do keep telling myself, the grass may seem to be greener, but that grass will have to get mowed just like the rest....

ANYBODY who checks out careerbuilder and sees an add for local work for NFI and thinks it is too good to be true, let me know ... i will vouch for that add that its definately the real deal ....

i worked for NFI for almost 2 yrs, i was local, home everyday and working average from 3pm to 1am sometimes i got home earlier in the night, but i averaged 1050 to 1125 gross a week ... so if you see a ad and it states what you can gross, it is about right on the money for what you would gross .... just my 2 cents about a company that treated me pretty well until they end ... walking away from NFI is the hardest decision i had to make since i started driving almost 17 yrs ago... i never thought leaving a company would have been this hard of a decision to make, but this one took 8 months to finally decide ....

Let me clarify my friend wanted to run teams with US XPRESS or Averitt. So, that is why we applied at both however he changed his mind. I really like how Maverick pays you for 350 miles if you run less than that on a load. If they aren't able to get you home when scheduled, they pay you for 800 miles. This is good especially during a slow time of year. The benefits are good and with "safety" being a huge part of the company makes me want to work for them. I know US XPRESS is a good company, but I have read some things about solo's about low miles and etc that worries me personally plus training pay is low. Averitt is a great company too. I appreciate everyone's advice and input. Thanks

3 weeks? I don't remember being stranded in the NE for that long.

Maybe it depends on where in the NE you end up, like Madawaska, ME.
