I've done some research on line and have corresponded by email with Tennessee Truck Driving School. Their add on the radio says that you can earn between $800-$1000 per week and be home every weekend. Through email they have said that this is correct and the companies they work with will get you home late Friday night and leave very early Monday morning. Are they blowing smoke to get a new student or is this really possible? The companies that they mention that can do this are McElroy, TMC, and Averitt. They said that there are also a few more but didn't mention those by name.
Thanks for any help!

I can believe Averitt might do that. I don't know about TMC they are a flat bed company.
Most companies that say home weekends will get you home late Friday or early Satdurday and then you leave out some time on Sunday and deliver Monday morning. Part of the reason they do that is... A. It's convienient for them. B. You are under a load so you can't quit or your career will be ruined.mje Thanks this. -
Translation : Late Friday nite means anywhere from midnight to noon Saturday. Early Monday morning means anywhere from 6 pm Sunday to midnight Sunday.
Tonythetruckerdude, mje and jxu417 Thank this. -
pay after some experiance would be that, gross not take home so remember that. But the home on friday night and not leave till monday I would have to say they are blowing smoke up your butt.

Be careful with Averitt. If you go with them try and get a local pu/del gig. Their line-hauls are good but you'll have to get in line, the occasional scraps get moved to their "truckload" drivers messing with their circadian rhythms, miles pay, and patience. Avoid their "truckload" division at all cost. I recommend you look at TMC as I feel they have one of the better weekend home dispatch systems and freight networks out there, but I know others do too.

Averitt also has hand unload retail including Cracker Barrel and Shoe Carnival

Don't believe everything you hear or read. These ppl doing these ads have no clue how much you could make.Chances are they're blowing smoke up your cabboose so you go to their school for your money.People will say anything the public wants to hear. Why don't you call these companies and see what they say.But then again you'll be talking to a recruiter, they also stretch the truth.

I think that McElroy is probably right. I knew a cat that drove for them a long time ago. Back then, he was getting home every weekend. He says that the family hat owns them is "super Christian" and want you home so that you can be in church on Sunday mornings to get right with Jesus. At least that's what he said. I don't know if it was true or not

Don't rule out Maverick. Most of those drivers are happy. Maverick has flatbed and refrigerated.
R.E. West is a TN based company with their own CDL school & has van and flatbed.
Milan Express is a TN based company with their own CDL school & has truckload and LTL.
My personal choice would be flatbed with Maverick or TMC. If weekends aren't important, look at Melton Truck Lines or Boyd Bros.
