ok so i am dead set on getting my cdl and I was wondering whether I should go to a tech school and take their commercial truck driving course or if it would be better to go to a driving school. the driving school would be sage in Lexington SC, the tech school would be north Georgia tech in Clarkesville GA. the cost is 4000 ish for sage and 3000 ish for tech i know that the course at tech is 8 weeks whereas i have no clue how long sage is. also im 19 years old but my grandpa knows the man that owns the local feed company and says he can probably get me a job. any input is much appreciated.

I personally did a ton of research before getting my CDL on where I should, and should not go. I chose a TECH over anything else. Eight weeks, and 3k vs. probably less than 8, and 4k. You should really do some research, and call them both ask alot of qeustions etc. How many hours a day is class? How much time in a truck? How many students per truck? See what their answers are, and just a few general questions like that will help you make up your mind fast. I looked into CRE, and a few other places, and it took about 2 minutes on the phone with alot of these places to cross them off my list. I had one guy tell me he would give me personal references if I couldn't get them which instantly threw up alot of red flags. You have to remember every one of these CDL schools is a business, and are only there to take you $. Take a week, and make alot of calls ask alot of questions, and you will get your answer fast.
A_C_Cooper Thanks this. -
Do they still have "ROP" programs for CDL? They used to have one in Orange County, Ca, and it was FREE but had a 1 year waiting list.

I've been leaning toward tech myself. I think my uncle took that course last year so lm gonna talj to him.

8 wk training course would be way better than a truck driving school...at least in 8wks you'll get more efficient training than a 3 wk push you out the door truck driving school.
