Don't worry if Ken appears like a drill Sargent or something..he can be very abrasive or tough but if you put up with it,
    you will learn.

Some people are intimidated by him and don't like the way he comes across - but no worries...
Just keep that in the back of your mind as you move forward...

Oh, I've got that very much figured out already. A company that had virtually promised me a job reneged today. He was pissed. Very impressive to see someone care that much about their students success.

Progressive in Chicago, Cicero and Lansing are very good. Every recruiter stops on by. Sometimes two different ones a week. The Belmont one in Chicago is the better of the three.

I wouldn't touch that school for anything, especially the one on Belmont. If you want to learn how to drive on the streets of Chicago, watch tons of movies and be left alone 2+ hours a day for "independant study", go there. ( the lady that owns the place sends instructors home early to save a couple of bucks, and leaves students unattended) This school is all about the money, need a copy of something, she charges you. Run over a cone in the lot, costs you $20.00. Fail a test, she'll charge you for extra class time at the end to retake it. As far as instructors, I've seen every thing from bus drivers to cab drivers, all you need is a CDL,and she will get you an instructors permit. (has a book called "Gina's Test" on bookshelf, basically, all the answers for the state instructors test) She had one instructor arrested for leaving, and threatened to sue me for $10,000 for instructor training when she found out I was going to a different school. ( not that I didn't learn anything after 32 years and 2.5 million miles) I'm not teaching at any school now, so I have nothing to gain for referals, but if I could steer you away from this school, I would. A really GOOD school, great teachers, several locations is STAR TRUCK DRIVING SCHOOL. I don't know how they compare price wise, but you'll be driving the 2nd day your there.(Progressive, you spend 80 hours in a classroom before you ever see a truck) Star also has recruiters come to their locations and the Illinois test people come out to their schools so you can take your test where you practice. (helps alot) If you don't believe me, just watch Craigslist under "Transportation", she runs an ad looking for new instructors about every month. Where ever you end up, GOOD LUCK.
