When I finish my driving school and move on to an employer, I am worried about failing driving test or something stupid and I will be up a creek. How often does this happen?

as a newbie, you only may have to go "around the block"
but some employers will test a newbie for everything..(inducing drop & hook) so it depends on the employer..
failing is possible, but they will now you are new and nervous....if you pass the state DMV tests, then an employers test should NOT BE that much of a problem. -
It only happens if you mess up, right ? Sooooooooo, don't mess up. Have the right frame of mind, practice, practice, practice. You can do it !

Sure it happens, but you may find out you'll be ok. If not then you move on to the next one. I took many new drivers for the road test and it is correct that the company knows you're going to be nervous. The test all depends on the company and what you'll be hauling.
I was tough but fair. I know the simple mistakes you're going to make but my job included hauling gasoline and we only hired experienced drivers. If you didn't know the equipment, how to shift with or without the clutch, and drive defensively you didn't stand a chance. The problem that most have is shifting and that's understandable. I didn't want to see any fancy shifting what I wanted to see if you knew what gear to be in at any given time.
Try to relax and pay attention. A good solid relaxed driver will make it if you get a tester that knows his stuff. You never know you might get the safety guy that's never driven a mile and tries to teach you by the book. He may have no common sense and one little problem he'll make a big deal out of it. If you get unlucky and run into that, it's better they don't hire you anyway. Just remember you're an asset to them or you wouldn't be there. relax and try to remember all that you've been taught. Good luck.
