Hey 'olhand, same here. I couldn't imagine having this to worry about , in addition to all the other things to worry about. Any place I ever delivered to, they couldn't care less how long you had left to drive, and if you told them, they'd probably milk it even more. Back in the old days, I used to keep a red pen handy, and if I ran out of hours (which was no big deal) I'd continue my paper logs in red ink, with the footnote, "forced to run". It didn't have any merit, but sure looked fancy.

Sooner or later, this would have been noticed either by the trucking companies safety department or tharough an audit by the D.O.T..

Logs entries must be in 15 intervals. Elog rounds up or back depending on the min. 6 minutes should have gone backwards,,8 min would go forward to the next 15 min.

The trick is to look at the whole picture,,if unloading is slow and you are going to get stuck, ask for the name of the person in charge of the unloading, cause you need the name " to put into your report "! Just let them be aware the delay is on them,,,and you sure wouldn't want them to get in trouble. Be proactive.

I agree with this. What would be a better alternative?

With my system , if I start driving and I pull over after 3-4 mins, I can quickly change the driving status back over to either sleeper, or off duty, whatever I had it as before, I can't guarantee that everyone else's will be the same... As far as determining wether it works or not on your particular e-log, next time you log out of your device for a reset or whatever, just put it into drive status and then let it run 3-4 mins and then quickly switch it over to the previous status (sb or off) and just see how it works
