you can drive with it open when it's slid to the front and strapped all together , vinyl flapping has to be secured with same strap , it's normally done when there is a damage to system or panels , you will mess it up even more rubbing straps over vinyl ...you will be 4-5 inches higher as well ...whatever this driver did is completely stupid ( you either secure it well if it fits or refuse the load ) , I had loads clearing sides literally inch on each
