V i s a b i l i t y ...... it makes you eaiser to see. If it killed you batteries, not many trucks (or cars) would ever drive at night. :biggrin_25526:

At 54 I have seen many accidents. I have narrowly avoided a couple where I know the other driver failed to see me before pulling out. Lucky for him I saw it coming.

I now do anything I can to stack the deck in my favor. This includes running with my lights on in my older car that doesn’t have DRL’s. It also includes running with my lights on in my HVAC service truck that has DLRs because the real lights are brighter.

There is no doubt in my mind this reduces accidents. As far back as thirty years ago some trucking companies had this practice. Anything that can increase your visibility and reduce accidents is priceless.

Visibility. You'd be amazed how many morons say " I never saw that (18 wheeled, 70 foot long, dayglow orange) semi truck" in accident reports.:biggrin_25526::biggrin_25526:

Seriously, I drive WA and OR with lots of rain or just roadspray. I wish that they'd just make it so the second you turned on the wipers the vehicles lights came on too. I mean if they can put airbags with crash detection in the darned vehicles, what would be so hard about that?

I believe in NC if your wipers are on your head lights are to be on too. Also motorcycle for quite a few years now are unable to turn the head lights off from the factory.

I don't know if the electrical system in my tractor is screwed up or if it was designed this way but if I turn my wipers on, my light automatically turn on. Headlights, marker lights

Alot of states have a "Wipers on, lights on" law. The problem is, most people forgot how to turn on thier lights thanks to most new cars coming with sensors that do it for them when it gets dark.

Lights on with wipers has been available for quite a few years now. Some manufacturers are making it standard.

its common sense....it doesnt help you see at all, but it helps other see you quite a bit

i drive with my headlights on ALWAYS no matter how bright it is, if im in my personal pickup truck or if im at work, it just makes sense

what really pisses me off is when its almost completely dark outside and raining cats and dogs and the ******* ###### in her plymouth breeze wont have their lights on!

I was driving through a big tstorm in west Texas yesterday, the kind where it goes from day to night because of the amount of water. Anyway, I look in my mirror and after squinting I could make out the grill of an f series Ford right behind my trailer and the scary part was I had just got done changing lanes so where the hell was this guy during that?

Illinois has a headlight in the rain law.

A State cop in Collinsville area was driving in the heavy rain with no lights.

Reported him to the state and they were not happy.
