Drowsy driving is big killer in U.S.

It is extremely important that Americans understand the hazards and potential tragedies of drowsy driving. Each year, thousands of people are injured or die as a result of car crashes caused by driving while sleepy. Most people are aware of the dangers of driving while under the influence of alcohol, but more education is needed to communicate the grave dangers of drowsy driving, which is an all-too-common occurrence.

The National Sleep Foundation’s (NSF) first-ever “Drowsy Driving Prevention Week” kicks off the year-long campaign. NSF has created a consumer-friendly and very comprehensive collection of resources easily available for download. These educational resources include fact sheets, print PSAs, radio scripts, press releases, posters, flyers and much more. This is a nightmare that came to life for me.....I had driven about 10 hrs one day and I layed down to sleep in the bunk ....a while later I was awaken by the trailer tires bumping against the ridges on the side of the road...I got up and peeked through the curtain only to see my co-driver asleep at the wheel and the truck tired about 5 feet from going over the mountain...I screamed and he woke up and jerked the steering wheel and brought the tractor away from the side of the road...this man was so asleep that his head was almost on the steering wheel....this is why I will never drive teams again...this man almost caused me to lose my life, his life and God only knows who he would have taken with us....for your info this man is still driving and I am sure he is driving and sleeping....everyone be safe and watch out for the other drivers...he was reported but nothing happened to him........I keep all drivers in my prayers at night..and ask the Creator to keep you all safe!
