drug testing

This is what happens when you don't read the OP's original post. The question wasn't a matter of being a past drug user but a question of where they will take hair due to the fact that the OP shaves his head. Jeez....

 

Haha, I'm sure that anybody getting into trucking...has a history of having used **some** illegal drug at some point in their life. Let's not be hypocritical! Mormons are the exception--we all know that they have never, ever done any drug at any point in their lives.

But admit it. Maybe it wasn't recent, maybe it won't show up on a drug test--but at some point in life, you probably smoked some illegal herb, or dropped some LSD, or ate some weird mushrooms, and they caught you in a psychotic mess, talking to yourself on the side of the interstate, claiming to be Jesus Christ or His only begotten son.

And that's all fine and well--just as long as it's in your past and doesn't affect your work today. This is why we use urine tests--they provide the most accurate scope as to whether or not you are *currently* or have *recently been* impaired by drug use.

Hair follicule tests are quite intrusive. I don't think it's necessary to figure out if somebody smoked weed 90 days ago--we all know that if you smoked a joint 70 days ago, it's not going to impair your ability to drive at present.

With all that in mind--yeah, it's a bad bad idea to drive while being a current drug user. You kill somebody while driving that 80,000 pound death trap, and they test your blood, you could go down for murder when the DA says, 'we took his blood and he tested positive,' therefore you get hit with the DUI /vehicular manslaughter spiel, and get 20 years..not to mention what happens to the victim's family.

 

Can we just divert off topic here, and turn this into a "should drugs be legalized" debate? While we're at it, let's also cover the following topics:

Israel/Palestine conflict,
Did the holocaust really happen,
Is the moon landing a hoax?

My husband had the hair test when he started with his company, and they shaved his chest hair (his hair on his head was cut too short to use). They guy performing the test told him that the lab needs about a golf-ball size amount of hair for it to be accurate.

They will gather hair from any part of your body - arms, legs, chest, back, etc.
