Get one anyway, it is a safety tool. If anything it sets the company up for litigation and the driver is named as the norm. They don't want it so no one can catch a driver of theirs with their bad behavior and being called on it.

We do as policy, the video is avalible for the driver any time they want it. All the trucks now have dash cams with three angles in them, the insurance company has given us a break and it already helped one driver with a ticket in a speed trap.

Just an FYI for you and post 22

, If you have a dash cam any evidence it shows is used in the investigation and if any thing it shows is deleted or altered in any way. you are deemed guilty .
Same thing if you say you didn't have one- Guilty.
So even if you own it someone else does control what you can delete etc.

This plus ANY photographic record is discoverable by the other parties legal firm so you need to give copies during the 'discovery phase' of the legal action or face the wrath of the court when they find out you held out.

Back when the disposeable film cameras were given to drivers we were cautioned to tell the drivers to take all the pictures to insure all the frames were accounted for if the other party asked.

Running your own camera is good but you will need to tell your company after any situation where a lawsuit may occur.

The ambulance chasers can ask for any dash cam footage , but you don’t have to give it up because they can’t prove you have it to begin with .

    Who’s gonna know ?

There’s no way I’d let someone else control the only video .

they will use the footage to punish you but they won’t use it to help you .

I can understand what you say about someone else controlling the camera.
I’m looking to see which one I can purchase that’s not a hassle or too expensive.

    I disagree

they only know about YOUR dash cam if YOU tell them .

Not having a dash cam because you’re afraid of the other guys lawyers is ridiculous.

having a dash cam is what saves you from the dirtbag lawyers .

might save you from a ticket too .

the Garmin dashcam is by far the most user friendly one , for ease of downloading the video .
