Dry air from idling?

Don't forget to hydrate the driver. Coming from the Southeast when I worked out West for a year I had to remember to keep drinking water all day. If I just stayed busy, I'd get dehydrated. For me, I learned I need to be drinking two 1-liter bottles of water during the day or I would have problems. Another thing I would do is sleep with the covers over my head. That traps the humidity where I needed it most.

Recirc needs to just be turned on in special circumstances. Many people turn it on in the summer to give a little boost to the air conditioning and leave it on until they get a new truck.

That's like breathing into a plastic bag all day, every day. Sure you can keep the temp comfortable, but the air is stale AF.

Or just push the dang Recirc switch so it mixes outside and inside air. Recirc wasn't mean to be run 24/7/end of the truck. You wouldn't turn on a light and then put a sock over it when you sleep, then take off the cover the next day. Use Recirc for the biref time needed and leave it off or in the fresh air position otherwise. Or, at least that's what makes sense to me.

That works on a new truck. When you're driving 25 year old or older stuff down the road the HVAC doesn't work like it did new, or maybe they simply weren't that good then to begin with.

Surprised this old ### thread is still bumping lol...

Anyway, I never really found an answer to it. It stopped being an "only in the truck" issue and now happens occasionally regardless of where I sleep. It just started one day and, for years now, never stopped. One of those quirks of aging I guess, I suspect something in the structure of my nose is messed up though. I quickly realized doctors were a waste of time, short of "trying surgery to see if it helps" I didn't really get any actual answers, no polyps or anything were present, nasal canal wasn't unusually 'small'/tight, etc.. It was said to be unusually dry with no discernible reason, and hydration and different nasal sprays were ineffective. I just kinda live with it now until I have enough time/money on my hands to see if correcting my childhood deviated septum would help.

How much water/liquids do you drink? MOST people are at some degree of dehydration, but they've been at that level of dehydration for so long it seems normal. Try increasing your fluid intake, until it becomes a habit. Lots of drivers restrict drinking water/ etc so they don't have to stop to P. Long-term that's how to get kidney stones.

Stop every 2-2.5 hours to stretch and water the tires, even if it’s 5 minutes, your health is the most important thing in the truck
