Am currently attached to this trailer.
Somehow the pins failed and the tandems slid all the way to the rear while driving.
Created a heckuva boom.
Safe to pull to a repair shop?

Tow truck to take the weight off the pins and pop them back on the track
then hit the road .Lonesome, Speedy356 and Flat Earth Trucker Thank this. -
You need to get the trailer jacked up and take the weight off the pins, then retract them and set the trailer down.
I don’t know the name for these, but I call them keepers. They may need to be bent down to prevent it from happening again.

Make sure the pins are locked out.
Try positioning again.
It wouldn't be the first time a driver forgot to lock either trailer or 5th wheel.tscottme and Flat Earth Trucker Thank this. -
It needs to be repaired on the spot or be towed in my professional opinion. -
Takes some skill to jump on the pins like that I think. I really don't think this was a mechanical failure. If the pins could come in they wouldn't have the strength to stay out now.
Flat Earth Trucker and 201 Thank this. -
I know how that happened a former co worker did the same thing . He needed to slide to get around a corner at customer and forgot to lock pins when leaving . He pulled over and called me because I was near . I loosened the clamps on both sides and we wiggled trailer using the spike until it fell in place I retightened clamps he locked the pins and all was good …

Trailer is fixed and roadworthy once more. Learned some correct nomenclature, too.
The guides that keep axle carriage rail in line are called cleats.
Additionally, a Come-Along was used to push the rails outward to properly align within the cleats.
Great couple of guys who fixed this old trailer.
