Log truck is down and desperately need help to confirm compatibility between engines.
My truck is a 2001 International 4700 with vin build date of Oct 2000, dt466e engine and a model C215, emissions family # ends with ANA... engine valve cover sticker says 2000.
Donor engine is from 1999 international 4700 with vin build date of Aug 1999 also with dt466e engine and a model C250, emissions family # ends with ANB... engine valve cover sticker says 2000 also.
BOTH are HT versions according to the vin
According to the valve cover sticker both engines are from 2000. Differences being the emissions family code ending in either A or B and an increase in hp from 215 to 250.
Are there any differences in this build date gap that would NOT allow a direct drop in swap?
I've heard too many opposite opinions. Some say the C250 with more hp could have different injectors and thus different ecm programing, I've heard the wire harness specifically the main box connections will be different and some sensor connections will be different. Few have said use the donor truck ecm and the rest will be plug and play and wire harness is the same. Others have yet still chimed in and said use the donor engine harness and donor ecm and then deal with differing main box connections and probably some instrument cluster re wiring.
Is it really that much difference if both engines are year 2000? even if the vin build dates are 14 months apart? Their both international 4700.
I just want the low mileage engine to fit in nicely and be plug and play... yeah donor engine comes with engine side wire harness and the ECM.
