180 electrical degrees mirrors the impedance from one side to the other regardless of what that impedance might be. And that is only at one single frequency.
-
300÷freq× percentage of speed of light divide by two and cut and if it needs to be longer double it.
Measurements are in meters and you can convert to feet or inches if you like.
If the bench that tuned the equipment did not use that formula any equipment coming off that bench will be misaligned.Last edited: Jan 14, 2016
Reason for edit: gotta stick to the formula for the bench to be properly aligneddarthanubis Thanks this. -
rabbiporkchop Thanks this.

Holy crapp rabbi..That formula makes it sound like ill have 900 ft of coax all through my truck just to run an external swr/modulation meter thats a foot apart..Another 900 when i hook up my linier..lol

It is what it is. It's no not really a big deal. I just rolled my extra cable up in a circle and zip tie it all together.
americanmadetrucker Thanks this. -
Keep in mind that's only if you're stuff was tuned on a bench that used that formula to keep everything in alignment. If your stuff was tuned on a bench that did not use that formula it may be misaligned by changing the cable length. It's possible to tune a radio to match an amplifier without using that formula but the output power will be less but it is still possible to make it work and whatever cable is used in the tuning process would need to be kept in the vehicle to keep everything the same

if we all lived in the ham world we would all have antenna tuners and Henry 2k or Ameritron amplifiers with a perfect 50 ohm input impedance but unfortunately we live in the CB world where things are less than perfect everyday and most of the Amplifiers we use are built in the backwoods of Alabama by people that really shouldn't be doing what they're doing

So far based on what I'm reading here he's the best in the country.
Can we get him to post here? I don't use Facebook.
