OK..I have been to this fella and he does have a personality that is cold...It gave me a feeling of "i dont have time to mess around with stupid questions"but i stuck it out...Seems like a nice enough fella an all but i have to question his work a lil..
I went in with a used tx star 350..Asked him to look it over cause i got a good deal from the cb man across the way *eye roll*..He looked at it,changed the power supply wire and matched it to my stryker..Its never been used sence i bought it or dtb tuned it..Been haveing ant issues to sort out on a new truck..
So i did hear about a cb shop on my way up from alabama(cant for the life of me remember where it is and name)and thought i would stop in for some ant help..Got it and asked to chk my radio just to compare what shops say..#'s were close so i was happy(this other shop made a few adjustment to make it really nice sounding im told by many on the road)..Then i thought i would bring in my tx star just to compare again...1st thing i was told is the power supply wire ga was to small, then my trans was sticking..The shop asked me if i wanted to go further and i said yes..They changed a few lil do flickys and it sorta helped but didnt solve the issues..NOW next step was to clean it up and go from there..It was cleaned and i was shown how it got a lil over headed by the solders lines, they were a lil brown and not silver...The thing still didnt wanna put out and stuck so they pulled the pills and chked them..Guess what..both were crap..So two new ones in,a clean up,a cpl lil do flickys went in and then retuned to my radio..
Well seems dtb didnt see the staples under the pills on the circut board or mention the sticky trans and used a small ga power supply wire and some how told me 400 watts outta a high drive tx star 350(how he got 400 on bad pills i dont know)..
dtb also didnt tell me where my radio works(power wise) best at without amp,i was told to set my radio at lowest power with amp(which is right) and without i could go wide open, yet the term "it goes quiet" was used by this other shop after the 9 oclock position on my variable power(radio only)..
Funny thing is i was being shown everything that was being done to my amp by this other shop in georgia(i wanna say exit 60 off the something off the 20 and i think its a shop of church guys and run by a fella named wolfman)so i know it wasnt made up or just told to me to make $$..
All in all im not thrilled with dtb but im not closed to the idea of other possible work at some point..
That deal on the tx star amp turned out to cost me as much as a nice new 500-700 watt amp between what dtb charged for what he did,the shop in ga and what the cb man charged me to buy it..
If i had not seen what the ga shop showed me on the meters and the clean up issues and the bad pills i would have been really pissed off tx star user...Then again its not been used yet...Finally got some decient #'s off my ant set up to consider installing the amp..Still not alot of range though,#### plastic trucks..I got a buddy in the military thats gonna see what he can do when he comes back from sea duty..

I didn't post your whole message quote so as to save space.
First, I'm sorry that you weren't satisfied with the work you had me do.
Second, your post is a bit hard to follow, and I'm not sure which work you had done where. Can you clear that up a bit?
Third, were you referring to me when you mentioned the stupid question attitude? I try to never display that attitude under any circumstances, but I'm human, and there have been times when I have. If I came across that way to you, I apologize.

Shouldnt be that hard to follow..
I bought a used tx star 350 from the cb man over by the fj..Brought it to you to chk out to see how it is..You managed to match it ot to my stryker 955 witha sticky trans and two bad pills and staples under the pills on the circut board that were shorting them out..You added a power supply wire which was to small of a ga(dont ask me what you added vs the other shop cause i dont remember)..
As for the radio itself its no big deal with where the radio(w/o amp)makes its power and starts to drop off. With a power meter i saw about 2-3 watts on low but most if not all the power at the 9oclock position and not all the way turned up..Again thats no big deal..
The amp is where i got a lil annoied cause defective pills and staples in that white cream stuff under the pills with a stick trans..No mention that it had been run hot based on the color of the solder...
Im not at the point that im gonna diss your work but ill have 2nd thoughts before ill get anything big done..
Been to your shop a few times and it was the 1st and 2nd time you had that "Stern," attitude sorta speak..3rd time i was there you spent alot of time yackin on the phone while working on either my or someone else stuff i dont remember..It wasnt a business call based on your #### chat type of conversation...
ok ill be blunt..My 1st time there your demeaner had me wanting to tell you go eff yourself..I stuck it out though and by the 3rd visit you were much easier to talk to..
Like i said ill not dis your work and i will drop in again if and when i need stuff but that mistake or oversite with my amp will make me question how deep ill let you go intoy gear if need be..
If i had to rate you on a 1-10 scale,for now 6.5... -
I thought it was Bob at Bob's CB shop that did great work but had that grumpy old man attitude, I had no idea that Dave got that attitude at times

Bob only gets an attitude once he finds out you are going to compare his work to someone else's.
darthanubis Thanks this. -
If anything bob should be determined to be netter than anyone else not get pissed off from being compared..If he doesnt like it he can tell the customer nicely to go get the other shop to do it..1/2 your business is makeing customer happy (within reason)and the other half is to be able to do the work the rigjt way..Never been to bob so i jave zero experience..
